Background: Was born in India. Started singing when he was 9 years old. Won many inter school and State level competitions. Attended school there till he turned 16. During this time his mother came out to his family as a lesbian which caused issues in the family. Few months later his mother divorced his father and took him to her home country South Korea. He lived with his mother is Seoul, along with his aunt who also supported her sister. Recruited by BigHit in 2010 he decided to audition on an impulse and was selected for his singing.
