When the Moon's gift in Her lineage weighs heavy,

She holds back all She can for the trade,

Her Mark, Her bed, Her Friendship,

Her heart constricted in its bone cage.

In the long dark,

Trapped in the house He built for her,

She sews clothes for a strong pup with uncertain future,

While He carves a cradle that won't be used

If Her lineage is birthed true.

"We will put it out for Nature," The Alpha in Him had declared.

Nothing imperfect shall dwell in His pack.

As a Mother, She spat at Him

And held everything She had left back for a trade.

She had made the deal with the Alpha Father for His mating ceremony...

She had bargained with His fearsome brother for sewing and silk...

She had traded Her skills to draw Her weapons closer...
