Birth and death,

Destruction and creation,

The violence of both colliding in the thunderstorm.

Rending trees and tumbling earth drowning

As the torrent threatens to consume them.

he fights with all he has to save what is his brother's,

Even baring his arsenal of war at the sky in snarling defiance.

The water of life flows from Her nest,

The water of death pours from the tempest.

he climbs, claws, crawls, carrying Her,

Battling the hand of death bringing ruin to the land as She screams.

Her labor to birth life, his labor to preserve them both.

Barely sheltered, She clings to him,

Pushing and pain, bleeding and torn.

Thunder cannot drown out the shout of new life,

A male, born perfect, in the most dire of circumstances.

they laugh despite the tumultuous weather and raging wind.

Gathering mother and child to him,

he holds true to his father's teachings,

providing warmth for his brother's mate,

respectful, diligent, self-sacrificing.

Provider, protector, friend.

She praised his unfound mate's blessing to have so much in him.

he praises his brother's blessing to have everything in Her.

Huddling together, they hoard warmth from the cold rain for Her pup.

Her interrogation discovers he was Her champion,

he was her enemy, and for a time, his brother's pariah,

Before She was found across the sea.

they make promises,

they plan to laugh,

they share silence,

But it is not the Silence She shares with Him.

His brother, His rival perceived, ranting, His unfounded accusations spoken.

His Alpha fury at His brother is jealously unfurled,

Her righteous s at His gratitude-less heart hurled.

It is all ruin. The world is in ruin. Their bond is in ruin. He is in ruin.

There are no more Firsts left for Them to share.

He missed a moment that cannot be brought back.

The birth of His firstborn was shared with His brother.
