Raynare was a valuable angel to him. More ways than one. Just before the reincarnation, Raynare fell because she held a lot of blame (enough for it to be considered sinful) towards God's old Right Hand, Kokabiel. After reincarnation and regaining magic and memories, he sets out to search for her. Finds out that she was killed by devils and revives her and has her take on a human name (Not Yuuma(?)). When he revives her, she'll become a proper Angel once again.
Edit: Something else I forgot, is that even though you are Immortal, Raynare is a couple years younger than you. You just show your age before dying.
This will also start at or around Kokabiel's attack.
