"Whenever I'm around you my brain stops working and my heart flutters. I get lost in your eyes and your smile seems to paralyse me" he said pulling you into a tight hug. "What I'm trying to say is....I think you used magic on me and I'd like you to reverse it""What" you said bursting into laughter. "Well obviously you've used some sort of powers on me" you couldn't help it, it was in your nature to lie. "Of course I've put a love spell on you and that means you have to do everything I say" Peter froze. "If you love me you'll sacrifice yourself, you'll walk right into the flames and never blink or look back. If you love me you'll give me the things I need at the expense of yourself. If you don't then I guess you don't love me; in which case I don't love you either. So, time to prove yourself little one, walk into certain death and do it for me. Isn't that beautiful? Then I shall remember you as one who loved me and you will live on in my memory, immortalized. I will be quite safe, that is what you want, right? You do love me, don't you?"
Peter looked stunned and you couldn't help but laugh "I'm kidding, I don't have any powers" "what" he said turning to face you on "then what are these feelings towards you" you shrugged "hormones?" Peter looked even more shocked and you decided that it was best to leave now before he decided to attack. "Well spidery the nights young and their plenty of places to rob" you slowly leaned over the edge of the building and slowly fell off. Peter ran to you and could see you dashing from rooftop to rooftop.
These concrete streets are my rivers, it's little wonder I seek flow. The sun shines as brightly here as anywhere, on us as much as anyone. Perhaps our ancestors heard the birds and whisper of wind in the trees, but I guess we adapt, learn to find our solace in what we have rather than what our soul expects, as if still cradles memories without words, of times lived in ancient forests. I'll always be at home here, there is something that feels right in those tree lined avenues, in the parks where the cars are only the faintest of hums. Perhaps when the cars are electric, when the rooftops are green, we'll find a happiness we never noticed was absent. Perhaps our souls will rekindle. Perhaps we'll discover that these days we thought of as bright were in heavy shade, and we'll learn how to see again.
Peter was catching up so you decided to cut across into the park hoping the trees would hide your present. The park grows ever more dark. Soon the shadows of the trees will blend into the blackness and their silhouettes against the sky will grow less pronounced. As the view disappears the sounds emerge as if the volume is being steadily turned upward. The breaking of a simple leaves or twigs becomes the focus of peters attention. He detects the loam fragrance in the autumnal breeze and glances upward to catch a glimpse of the moon before a dark cloud erases its precious silver rays.
"I know your here I just want to talk" you smiled he was in your trap "In the darkness of the park I could be beautiful." You whispered from behind him. He turned around but you were gone "Among trees that could pass for elaborate halloween silhouettes I could be someone graceful." Again he could hear your voice but couldn't spot you. "As my worn ballet shoes tread the rain washed path, soaking in the cold water, I move my limbs as if I were on a stage." He sees you dancing amongst the tree tops and decided to sneak up on you. "My movements are lost under the black sky, the only tell-tale sign of my oddness the quiet scuffles of my feet." He was behind you now "All too soon the yellow lamp-light of the street illuminates my true form and instead I revert to the shuffle that befits one of my stature and physical appearance." You turn and see Spider-Man wondering who the man under the mask is. "That was beautiful" he whispered into your ear making sparks run up your arms "my friend Peter told me it" Peter was shocked, you couldn't of known who he was under the mask. "And how do you know this Peter" he said waiting with baited breath for your answer. "He's an old friend" Peter let out a sigh, you two had only just met so it couldn't of been him"
You both heard alarm bells coming from the other side of the park "will I see you again" Peter whispered panic lacing his voice "maybe if fate will have it" "tomorrow night" you smiled agreeing to meet him at the park tomorrow at nightfall.
