Ayano was staring at the leader of the sports club with wide eyes.
He had obviously been running as fast his could, he still wore his swimsuit but had a jacket on along with a pair of snickers.
He was panting and looked at the yandere female before smilling, a small blush making it's way on his face.
"Hi..."
"Aso... you... I..."
"I know you plan on confessing to Taro in a few minutes but... I guess I wont be satisfied unless I say it. I am in love with you, Ayano Aishi." He confessed, eyes locked on her face, determination in his words.
Ayano slowly backed away and looked at the cherry tree, this wasn't how she imagined it... this wasn't her senpai, it wasn't Taro yet... it felt right, she couldn't understand why but she decided to try something.
She returned her attention to Aso and slowly came closer, she placed a hand on his cheek, her heart beating like crazy and her cheeks burning, she leaned forward and captured his lips in a shy, gentle kiss.
Aso was startled for a brief moment before kissing back. His hands wrapped around Ayano as he pulled her closer, deepening the kiss. Ayano's heart was suddenly full of emotions, they came like a wave crushing any doubts that had remained, she backed away and looked at him, she thought about Taro... perhaps he was still special, not as a lover... but as a very important friend, as important as her first friends were in her early days, as important as the members of her family.
Ayano had to choose, Taro didn't really seem to favor her more than anyone else... he had her in the friendzone and she feared that she'd probably stay there forever, she looked at Aso who had just confessed his love for her, in his eyes she was special... and that made her happy. She smiled at him in a way she only did for Taro, well used to.
"I guess I made my choice." She commented and Aso hugged her as he chuckled, she hugged him back and decided to leave together, on their way the came across Taro who was the first to learn of this... and he was more than happy to hear that.
~Nine years later~
"Kaito, Keiko!!! Don't run so fast!!!" A black haired female said to a pair of blonde twins with black eyes, they were running at full speed, one of them laughing loudly while the other was following behind with a blank expression.
"Mom!!! I won!!!" The elder twin, Kaito, screamed happily. His younger sister, Keiko, looked back and saw their parents coming closer.
"I told you not to run so fast, you might get hurt." The mother scolded.
"Oh, don't bother Ayano, they are athletes to the core." The father interjected as his wife looked at him annoyed.
"Aso, I know that but I can't help it, they are our children after all." She replied and he smiled gently, his gaze falling on her ring and slowly going towards his own ring.
"Indeed they are, Ayano." He said and pulled her closer, Aso had become one of the best athletes and had his own sport center with a little help from Ayano and her siblings.
Ayano recalled the day he proposed to her, it was two months after graduation, Aso was going to Italy to train with a team of professionals and that made Ayano uneasy, even more when she knew she couldn't go as well.
They had returned to the cherry tree where they originally became a couple and he had offered her a ring with a tiny rubin. It didn't seem much but to Ayano that was more precious than a cave filled with untold riches, she was so happy, she was acting like a little girl that day.
"Mom, can we eat crepes please?!" Kaito begged and Keiko used her puppy dog eyes, a move she learnt from Ryoba who was overjoyed to have two grandchildren on the first try.
"Alright but after that no more snacks or running around at full speed, tonight we're going to visit your grandparents and great grandparents and they have prepared a feast for all of us, okay?"
"Yay!!!" Kaito cheered and Keiko smiled, Ayano was glad that her daughter hadn't showed any signs of a yandere personality... but she knew that one day she'd fall in love and then maybe she'd give in to her yandere side.
Kaito wasn't really like Ayano, he was energetic and very kind hearted. He loved his sister a lot and always played with her but showed no signs either, Ayano was somehow happy but also cautious, she never knew what the future had in store after all.
She never dreamt that she'd marry and love Aso instead of Taro... but here she was with him as her husband and their cute children.
The four of them went to their favorite caffe where the twins saw as heaven. They sat on a table and ordered, Ayano took an ice coffe along with a chocolate cupcake, Aso asked for crepes along with the twins. Ayano chuckled, this was adorable.
"The three of you are priceless." She commented and Aso smiled brightly.
"And you can't help but love it." He teased.
"Indeed, I really do love all of you." She admitted as she watched her children eat.
"And what about the newest member in there?" Aso asked and pointed at Ayano's tummy, she looked at him suprised.
"How did you know?"
"You forgot to hide the examinations." He answered and Ayano sighed.
"So much for it being a suprise, I guess." She replied and Aso laughed.
"I don't think your relatives know yet so we can still suprise them." He said and Ayano smirked, this was only the beginning of a wonderfull life together with those she held more dear than anything in the world.
And she couldn't have been any happier for her choice that fatefull day.
