She sat huddled, on the couch, legs pulled tight against her body, rocking gently, singing to herself in an attempt to block sounds from outside.

She could hear birds singing, cars and trucks driving the street, the sound of a lawn mower and even the occasional laughter of a child, as they played.

She stared at the blank screen of the television.

A slight knock came to her front door and she heard a voice gently call,

"Amanda?"

She stopped singing and looked to the door.

"Amanda?"

Slowly she got to her feet and with feet of cement, she walked to the door.

"Amanda?"

She peered through the keyhole.
