Chapter 22- Promises broken

Dani's POV

I yawned as I woke up from my nap. I checked my phone and decide to get up, it was now 2 pm which means I'd been sleeping for 3 hours already. The events of what happened a few hours ago come back to me. I lazily get up and see Lauren still passed out on her bed and Lisa is sat on the end of her bed painting her toenails. She sees me wake up and rolls her eyes and looks back down, focused on her nails. At this point I grew really angry. I don't even know why she's being rude plus she's the one who's hiding something, even though the others may not have noticed it, I have.

I sit up in bed and push the covers off. Swinging my legs off of Lisa's bed I stand up and storm up to her.

"Why the hell are you acting like this?" I whisper yelled so Lauren wouldn't wake up. She puts her bottle of nail polish down and gets up to meet my height. Her eyes darkened and she looked furious. I would've been terrified if it wasn't for the mixture of confusion and anger I was feeling.

"Why am I acting like this?!" she said incredulously "Maybe you should be asking yourself that question." She said digging a finger into my chest. Lauren stirred in her sleep. Lisa's head snapped towards Lauren and her eyes softened but just as quickly, she was back to glaring at me. She turned around sighing heavily, running her hands through her short dark hair.

"Don't you get it Dani," she said, quietly now, "It's YOUR fault."

"What do you mean?" I asked, confusion drowning my thoughts. Lisa just shook her head and looked at the ground. "I said what do you mean, Lisa!" I shouted, frustrated. She turned her body around and looked straight at me, infuriated.

"I MEAN, I'TS YOUR FAULT SHE'S HURT. IT'S YOUR FAULT SHE'S IN THIS CONDITION!" she yelled her eyes burning into mine but her hand waving madly in Lauren's direction, indicating she was talking about Lauren, "IF YOU HADN'T HAD WORRIED HER SO MUCH SHE WOULD NOT HAVE GONE AFTER YOU AND ENDED UP IN THOSE GOD DAMN WOODS!"

"WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT LISA, WHAT WOODS?! HOW ON EARTH IS IT MY FAULT? I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!" I shouted back at her, confused as ever.

"SHE WAS RAPED!" Lisa yelled, "God dammit Dani, Lauren was raped," she said sadly through gritted teeth.

I brought a hand up to my mouth in shock and sat on the bed, in disbelief. I didn't even have time to take it all in because a small, croaky voice interrupted my thoughts.

"L-Lisa, you promised," Lauren barely choked out from under her sheets, she stole a glance at me but quickly looked away, unable to meet my gaze. Lisa's eyes softened completely and she quickly made her way over to Laur's side.

"I'm so sorry, Lo" Lisa said softly, reaching out to touch Lauren's face. But Lauren jerked at her touch and quickly got out of her bed.

"NO, YOU PROMISED YOU WOULDN'T TELL!" she yelled. I was taken aback at the sudden outburst and clearly so was Lisa. Her quick movement to get out of her bed and that yelling seemed to take up all the energy she had left because of her fever. Her legs wobbled and I watched as Lisa quickly got to Lauren's side and guided her back into her bed. I sat there, still in shock. I continued watching as Lisa whispered sweet nothings into Lauren's ears calming her down and getting her back to sleep. I just silently got up and walked towards the door.

"Wait, Dani" Lisa called. I stopped in my tracks, still facing the door with my back facing Lisa. "You can't tell anyone, she wouldn't want that," she said.

"Yeah," I whispered and then continued out the door, my thoughts consuming me.

Lisa's POV

I watched Dani exit the room, closing the door behind her. I didn't mean to blurt it out like that. I don't break promises especially if it's to one of my sisters. Hopefully Dani won't tell anyone, it'll just worsen Lauren's well being. I guess I shouldn't really be blaming Dani for all this but she still plays a big part in how Lauren is now, I can't help but be angry at her. I adjusted the blanket on Lauren and then headed out the room.

Downstairs, Christina, Kath and Amy were in the kitchen.

"Hey," I said, positioning myself on the kitchen counter.

"Hey, is something wrong with Dani?" Christina asked.

"N-no, I don't think so, why?" I said nervously.

"She looked distracted when she left just now, she said she was heading out just as we were coming in." Amy said. 

"Oh" I simply said, "Did she say when she'll be back?" I was still worried about her even though I was mad at her, I didn't want what happened to Lauren happen to Dani to.

"She said she'll be back before dark." Kath spoke. I nodded my head, relieved.

"Is Lauren any better, has she woke up yet?" Christina asked. I averted my gaze from hers, I always found it difficult to lie.

"No I think her fevers still high and she hasn't woke up yet." I lied.

Christina sighs, "She'll be better soon hopefully, she still needs to tell us why she was home so late."

"Hey anyone wanna help with dinner tonight?" Katherine asks.

"Sure." Amy and Chris say in unison.

"Lisa?" Kath asked.

"Uh, I'm actually going to head out," I said and with that I head towards the front door, keys in hand, leaving the sound of dishes clanking and the tap running  from the kitchen. I set off down the street, not really knowing where I was going. Just then my phone rang. I look at the caller ID.

Isaac?

I stop in my tracks and pick up the phone.

"Hey," he says.

"Hi" I answer, still confused as to why he was calling.

"Are you doing anything right now?" he asks.

"No, why?" I reply.

"Okay, send me your location, I'm coming to pick you up." he said. And with that he hangs up.

Sorry, I know it's been a long time but I'm finally back! I actually went camping lol.
