Chapter 36 - Dinner

Lauren's POV

It's been almost two months since that night in the cabin and two weeks since Lisa's been out of the hospital. A full two weeks of going to a counsellor. And I can honestly say I've been getting better. I mean the nightmares are still reoccurring but I just don't feel as low as I was a month ago. Lisa, Dani and I had another talk yesterday and I think I'm ready to talk to the rest of my sisters about it. Tonight, after dinner together I'm going to tell them, they have a right to know. And I don't know how I'm feeling about tonight. My sisters have invited their significant others over and I don't do well with a lot of other people around, especially after what happened. I even told Dani, I might not come down but how else was I gonna get better if I cant handle a few people?

After I'm done touching up my makeup, I make my way downstairs into the kitchen where my sisters are setting up the table, which had a lot of chairs around it. Dani looked up from her phone and does a double take when she sees me and her eyes light up. I watch as Lisa, Christina and Katherine's face breaks out into a smile too.

"Hey Lauren, I-I didn't think you were gonna come down," she said quickly, "You look great!" She says, probably because I'm finally wearing something that isn't a sweater and joggers. I tug at my blue dress and chuckle slightly.

"Thanks Dan," I said as I take a seat next to her at the table. The rest turn back to what they were doing but Dani leans in closer to me.

"You still up to telling the others after dinner?" she whispered. I smiled at her and nodded and she smiled too. She began typing away at her phone again and then looks up to tell us something.

"Hey, you guys is it okay if Sofia comes over as well as Lexi?" she asks. 

"Hey, the more the merrier." Christina jokes. Just then Amy walks in looking nervous. I think Katherine also notices because she speaks up before I can.

"Hey Ames, something wrong?" Kath asks her as she quickly takes a seat at the table. Suddenly all eyes were on her. She mumbles something incoherently.

"Care to speak up Ames?" Lisa asks, frowning. She takes a deep breath and looks up.

"Um Ryan's coming over for dinner today too." she said quickly as she avoided contact with everyone and blushed profusely. Lisa puts down the tea towel she was using and sits opposite Amy.

"Wait Ryan as in 'Dr Reece, my doctor, from a couple weeks ago' Ryan?" Lisa asked, grinning. 

"Yes, him." Amy says through gritted teeth. I smirked at her knowingly, I always knew they were going out secretly and that they had a thing for each other. Christina walks over to Amy and pokes her in the ribs continuously.

"Amy's got a boyfriend!" she yells while Amy tries to shoo Christina away. Everyone else joins in on making Amy feel embarrassed while I watch and laugh. The doorbell rings and Christina finally leaves Amy alone to go answer it.

"Nick!" she yells as she wraps her arms around his neck. Then she looks behind him.

"Oh hey Max," she adds in, "Kath! Max is here!" she yells and Kath bounces up and rushes to the door to greet her boyfriend, I think they've been going out for about a year now. Soon enough Isaac also arrives and takes a seat next to Lisa as he gives her a firm kiss. 

"Ok, ew." I say as I cover my eyes, this gets a laugh out of everyone just as the doorbell rings again. This time Dani shoots up and gets the door. Her excited look to see Lexie quickly ceases into that of a disappointed one but she's quick to mask it over as she ushers a tall blonde man into the room.

"Amy its for you," she said, smirking. Amy blushes as she makes her way over to the blonde doctor. He plants a quick kiss on her cheek. Then looks to the rest if us and clears his throat.
