To Escape Ship

(Hello! This chapter is currently unedited so there will likely be more mistakes than usual, I hope you enjoy it nonetheless -Jarryn Humphrey)

Takeoff was even worse the second time. After what felt like forever of the ground shaking violently and hitting my head multiple times, the ship finally calmed down and stopped shaking. We were in space.

"Are you okay?" I heard Matt ask in through darkness.

    "Yeah. You?"

    "Never better."

    "How's your stomach?"

"I may have burst a stitch or two, but it's fine."

    "Are you bleeding?"

    "A little. Nothing serious though."

"Are you sure?" I didn't believe him. I had heard him wincing multiple times during takeoff, but I knew he wasn't going to admit it.

"Definitely. How many F.E.A.R agents do you think are on board."

I shrugged. "A lot."

"A reasonable assumption." He chuckled lightly. "Do you think it's safe to go out yet?"

"I don't know." I listened carefully to see if I could hear  anyone outside, which I didn't.

"I'm going to go check it out. I'll let you know if it's safe to come out."

    "Um- no!"

"'No?'"

"Yeah! I'm not going to let you go out there!"

"Why?"

"I can walk, you can't. End of discussion."

"I can walk perfectly fine!"

"Mhm, if you consider hobbling around on an adrenaline rush 'walking.'"

"Olivia, I can't let you go out on your own."

"What? Do you think I can't handle myself?"

"What- no that's not-"

"I'm going. I'll tell you when to come out."

He groaned frustratingly. "Fine. Just don't die without me."

"I wouldn't dream of it!" I stood up and felt around to make sure it that I was clear to start walking towards the thin glowing line that let me know where the door was. I finally stepped forward and made my ways towards to the door, groping around in the almost complete darkness.

I reached the door and put my ear against it to listen for any voices coming from the hallway. When I determined that there were none, I felt around for the handle and pushed the door open ever so slowly. I peered out into the hall through the small crack in the doorway; no one was there. I slipped out and crept to the other wall where there was another door, the only other door in this hallway other than the one that led to the room I was just in.

There was a small window on this door that allowed me to see inside the room. I peered in, but I couldn't see much due to the dim lighting and a few thin bars that ran across the window on the other side. I blinked a few times to get my eyes used to the darkness so that I could see what was in the room; after a few seconds I could see that the walls in the room were covered by grey panels and that there was a large black figure in the center of the room.
