Along the way, you noticed some others being shoved out of an airlock wearing punctured suits. You'd heard about this during your time in the mess hall. One training exercise, to those unfortunate recruits, was being shoved out of an airlock with barely any oxygen and a suit that would slowly let the oxygen out. You shook the thought away and went to your class. You sat down next to Alyx as the lesson began. You were taught about weapon types, reloading each type of weapon and reverse engineering them if any problems arose. You took down as many notes as possible. On the way out of the class you were knocked down by another SetDef soldier while the others looked on. You got back up and growled at him as more troopers came to watch

"The Earth born are gutless, afraid to endure suffering", the trooper said before he tried to punch you. You dodged out of the way and kicked him in the stomach

"Not all Earth born are gutless", you replied. He took out a knife and tried to stab you, but you avoided a few of his stabs and grabbed his arm. He punched you in the face a few times, before you dislocated his elbow and tossed him onto the floor before stabbing the knife into his hand. The other SetDef soldiers backed up. You cracked your knuckles as Jason placed a hand on your shoulder

"You going to finish him, or just leave him there?", he asked. You took your helmet off and spat on the trooper

"Leave him there, let him suffer the humiliation of being beaten by an Earth born.", you replied before you walked off towards the hangar to your flight lesson. You made yourself comfortable in the seat before your instructor began detailing how to start the engines and prime the launch sequence. Paying close attention, you followed exactly how he detailed it and the launch went perfectly. You began to get a feel for the controls, and it felt much smoother being in the cockpit of a fighter rather than a foot soldier. A few minutes later, you were ordered to return to the hangar bay. While the other recruits either landed harshly on the hangar floor due to their landing gear coming out too late or just crashed into the hangar, you simply landed it perfectly and climbed out. The instructor was impressed by your performance

"Y/N L/N, you seem to be gifted behind the cockpit of a Skelter. On your first lesson, you have managed to take off and land perfectly with barely any instruction. Admiral Kotch may wish to see your performance in a combat simulation, but for now you are the squadron leader of squadron B-Z4. Most of them are well versed in flying, but the others will need more training. I will deal with the rest of them.", the instructor announced and you were surprised and a little proud that you were now a squadron leader. You saluted your trainer and went off to talk with the squadron you'd be leading. They seemed particularly well trained. You folded your arms and spoke in a confident voice

"Listen up. The Front is made up of the strongest and most fearless soldiers the universe will ever know. We will eradicate all enemies of our society. It isn't enough just to break free of Earth. We will break them all!!! The cities of that planet shall burn along with any and all history they have ever had. The Front will rule the galaxy. All remaining planets we have not yet taken control of WILL fall in line or they will perish. And this Skelter squadron will be the one that burns the path for the Front to take. We will take control of the galaxy, as we are the rightful owners. Mars aeternum", you declared and immediately your squadron cheered. You got into your Skelter, as did your squadron and you flew in a formation past the fleet of SetDef ships. You felt right at home in your Skelter. You would need to teach them combat manoeuvres too. That would be something you'd need to discuss with your instructor. But for now, you enjoyed flying much more than being a foot soldier. You soon arrived back in the hangar bay and after you were all out of your ships, you went to eat. Today's meal was steak and chips. You had new aspirations. To become an Ace Skelter pilot and fly your first strafing run mission. You couldn't wait for this opportunity to prove your combat abilities on your first mission
