Chapter 44: Neverland Misadventures – Peppermint Sex
(When: Approximately 6 Years Ago)
Wendy expected Captain Hook to pounce the moment they set sail.
But the attack never came. Once the Second Star launched, Queen Illya's fleet followed in defensive formation. The defensive lines rotated periodically around the Second Star, sweeping like bees around a hive, scanning the area for Captain Hook.
The Fantasians were also on the defensive. They divided the ship, and each took a sentry position in one five locations: Jim took the helm, Ariel took the bow, Silver took stern, Wendy covered starboard to port, and Peter guarded the shrouds.
A quiet settled over the Second Star as she accelerated through space. Surrounded by the royal entourage, Jim started to feel hopeful.
"No news is good news," he murmured, reading the constellations like a roadmap. Pausing to watch Wendy as she patrolled the deck, Jim continued on course. "Maybe Hook won't show up."
"Dream on Rattail."
Peter slid down the mizzen mast. Perching vertically along the shaft, he motioned to the stars. "Hook is out there somewhere. He's hiding, playing mind games with us. He thinks we'll go crazy waiting for him to appear."
Jim steered through a sparkling nebula. "Is it working?"
Peter chuckled. "Not for me, I can do the waiting game – it just gives me more time to think of creative ways to torture him before I slit his throat."
Jim laughed darkly. "Can I help brainstorm?"
Peter flipped his dagger. "You can help brainstorm, but I better be the one that guts that codfish."
"Whatever, as long as he dies a painful death." Again, Jim watched Wendy round the deck. "Hook really hurt her."
Jim gripped the helm. He almost crushed the spokes.
"I mean, he really hurt her. Every bit of Wen's self-worth has gone to crap. You know she almost didn't leave the medical station?"
Peter cocked his head. "Huh? Wendy wants to go home more than anyone. Why wouldn't she want to leave?"
"It's her scar." Jim touched his stomach. "She asked Baymax about it. She got really upset because it was still there."
Peter scratched his head. "I don't follow."
"I'm not surprised."
"Look asshole, are you going to tell me why she's upset or not?"
"Good god." Jim turned the wheel. "I can't believe she married a dipshit like you. Honestly, you have no idea? Not even a hunch?"
"I'm going to hunch your face if you don't tell me."
"Think about it," Jim snapped. "Think about what's important to Wendy. Think about her morning routine; think about how perfect her hair looks every day, the curls, the bow; think about how happy she gets when you say she's pretty."
Jim waved his hand, figuratively feeding Peter the answer.
"Now, think about the scars all over her body."
Peter squinted. "Are you saying Wendy is upset because she thinks the scars...make her look ugly?"
Jim snapped two fingers over his head. "Bing!"
