14.) Forgiveness

You woke up feeling confident and nervous.
I did a good job sticking it to him.
But how am I going to face him at school today?
Does everybody know?
You shook the feelings off and got ready for school. You put on your (favorite color) dress to brighten your mood. You got a matching bow and went down for breakfast.
"Are you ok?" Your mom asked.
"Are you ok?" You asked Gilbert.
You shook off the memory and nodded.
Just like Gilbert did.
You ate your breakfast and headed off to school. You decided if you got nervous, to just play it off as cool and shove the feelings deep down.
You went into the schoolhouse, put your stuff away, and took your seat.
"Today you have a free day of school, I have work to do. Don't cause trouble or messes." Mr.   Phillips said going into his office room. The classroom erupted with the noise of talking. You got out a book and started to read. You would go outside, but it is snowing and you couldn't surely stay out for very long. Out of the corner of your eye you see Gilbert looking at you. He looks like he wants to talk to you, but is scared to.
"Hey buddy." Billy said walking up to Gilbert.
"Nice black eye." Gilbert said to Billy.
"Thanks, got it from a friend for Christmas." Billy said sarcastically.
"No problem." Gilbert says rolling his eyes.
"What's up with you and y/n?" Billy asked.
"We are kinda fighting right now." Gilbert said sadly.
"So she's single?" Billy asked smirking.
"No-well yes but I mean we weren't dating well but ugh nevermind." Gilbert said.
You see Cole and Moody skip over to Anne and Diana, and they whisper to each other. They look at you and Gilbert and put their plan into motion.
"Hey, Gilbert can you help me for something out of the closet?" Moody asked, but you didn't hear, you were zoned out.
Gilbert walks over and looks In the closet. Moody pushes him in and locks the door.
"Y/n can you help me get something out of the closet?" Diana asked.
You set your book down and walked over to the closet. Once the closet door was open, they shoved you into the closet. You ran into something, a person.
Gilbert Blythe.
You looked up at each other and blushed.
"Ok, let me out. Right. Now." You say.
"Not until you guys make up." Anne said.
"Or make out." Moody said.
You could hear Ruby crying, and you could feel Billy's eyes through the closet.
You hit your head against the door softly then turned to Gilbert. The closet was sorta small so you guys were close. Too close then you wanted to be to him right now.
"Can you...back up." You say.
"I sorta...can't." He said giggling.
You keep your face straight.
"Y/n-" Gilbert starts.
"I don't want to hear it." You say.
"Please y/n-" Gilbert starts.
"No." You say turning to the door.
"Y/n listen to me-" Gilbert starts.
"Not hearing it." You say.
He spins you around and holds your hands.
"Please." He says.
Screw your puppy dog eyes they are so charming.
"Fine." You say quietly.
"I'm sorry I flipped out on you. I was having a rough day as you know. I shouldn't have ignored you or pushed you away. I'm sorry I never gave any explanation for ignoring you. I should've told you, you're my closest friend. I'm also sorry about you're dad. I'm sorry I assumed. You are such a good friend. Well maybe more, but that's beside the point right now. I'm very sorry. I get it if you won't forgive me. But please do. I'll miss you if you don't." Gilbert says.
You hug him tightly.
"I do forgive you." You say.
"Oh thank goodness." He says.
"I'm sorry for bugging you. I should've just left you alone." You say.
"I know you were just trying to be a good friend and be there for me." Gilbert says.
"They made up!" Anne says.
"We can hear you." Gilbert says.
"Ok now get them out." Ruby says running up to the door. She pulls the handle, and the knob comes off.
"Oh no." Josie says.
"What's going on?" You ask.
"The handle, may or may not have fallen off." Diana says.
"What?" You And Gilbert say at the same time.
"It'll be fine." Anne says somewhat nervously.
"How long are they gonna be in there together?" Ruby says.
"Calm down, your silly crush is fine. He's just making out with some other girl."Billy says fake crying.
Ruby starts to tear up but comes back at Billy.
"Says the perv who will never get a chance with y/n." Ruby says.
You and Gilbert start cracking up in the closet.
Diana gets Mr. Phillips, and within 20 minutes he gets the door open.
You and Gilbert hug. By then it's lunch time.
