Humans weren't too far off when they came up with the idea of guardian angels.
Protectors, they're called. There are too classes of them; Pure and Unpure.
Any time a human is destined to die, they are given a pure protector. It's the Protector's job to make sure that they don't die. If they fail, they become an unpure protector.
Unpure protectors are the Protectors who have failed, or are born to unpure parents. They wander the earth, unseen and sad.
All protectors worship a godlike being only known as The Ancient One.
Write about what happens when seven unpure protectors are specifically chosen by The Ancient One to protect seven high school kids, all from different social groups.
Write about why The Ancient One chose unpure protectors, and what the kids need protected from in the first place.
