I opened Hailey's first.

'Meet me at the grotto ASAP'

'Why aren't you answering this is important'

'Maddie??? R u okay?'

Then Rowan's.

'R u home Hailey said she can't her ahold of you'

'Maddie? Are you okay Hailey is freaking out'

'Hailey is saying she found that girls body. Come to the grotto ASAP'

That last message just came through.

My breath caught in my throat and I felt sick.

It's real.

I knew this guy was sick, but he killed that girl.

I felt my hands shaking.

My god Hailey and Rowan need me.

"Are you okay?" Brandon asked.

I looked at him and knew he saw how shaken I was.

Damn it.

I quickly typed.

'I'm coming'

Sent.

"I need to go."

I slipped my phone in my pocket and swallowed.

"What? What's going on Maddie?" He asked seeming concerned.

"I just have to go. I'm sorry. I really really am." I said feeling myself tearing up.

I walked past him to my closet and grabbed my shoes.

I walked back to my bed and sat down and began to put my shoes on.

"Where are you going?" He asked watching me as I slipped them on.

I was tying my shoes frantically.

My hands were shaking to bad and I felt my arms begin to shake too.

I can't believe this is happening.

My eyes were watering so bad.

It took everything in me not to cry.

Suddenly he was sitting next to me and he grabbed my hands softly.

I felt my hands trembling under his.

"Maddie? Are you crying?"

I looked up at his eyes.

I felt tears falling down my face.

"Brandon please don't ask me any questions." I blurted.

I wanted desperately to tell him but I can't.

This isn't some game.

This is life or death.

For me, my family, my friends, Jensen, even Brandon.

"Maddie, you're scaring me. Let me help you, please. I couldn't help you then but now I can. Let me." He pleaded as he began to rub his thumb over my skin softly.

He's trying to calm me.

"Brandon, I can't tell you anything. I really can't. I'm sorry. I have to go." I said pulling my hands away from his.

He gave me the softest eyes.

I looked away and took a deep breath.

I wiped my eyes and stood.
