I stepped into my living room, dressed in more casual clothes. I didn't want to go to a fancy restaurant. Just a local little place. It was my favorite.
And if he doesn't pay it won't be too much for me.
I was to meet him at 5:30 behind the gym.
It was like I was in high school again. Meeting a boy behind the gym.
This is probably the only place he knows in this town so it makes sense, but it's just juvenile.
I was curious about him though.
There was something about him that was just interesting.
I should get him a new paper weight.
I looked down at my outfit and really hoped Harry wasn't going to be over dressed.
I had on trackies and a t shirt, my favorite pair of runners. I was bringing a windbreaker in case it gets colder before we leave the restaurant.
Keys in hand, I walked out the door and headed to the school.
I don't know what Harry's car looks like and I don't know where I should be. I just pulled into a spot behind the gym, the doors to the hospitality room were to my right.
If I had Harry's phone number I would tell him I was here, but I guess I'll just have to wait.
I was just sitting in the car for a few minutes before I saw the familiar fucker.
He walked out the back doors of the gym. I had expected him to just meet me here.
He had on nearly the same thing as me but his was all black, his pants were far more fitted than mine.
I couldn't help but watch him as he stopped to look around the parking lot presumably for me.
He didn't seem to find me so I got out of my car and waved at him. As soon as he saw me, a big ol smile found it's way to his face.
He got to my car and looked at me over the top of the car from the passenger side, "My car's on the other side of the school if you wanna drive," he was very smiley, "I don't really know where we're going either,"
"That's fine," I pressed the button on my keys to start my car, "just get in,"
Once we were in the car Harry was looking around, being weird.
"What were you doing in the gym?"
"They want me to be the assistant coach for the boys basketball team," I couldn't help but watch his hands as he turned his rings, "I don't know why I haven't played basketball a day in my life,"
"They really want you to be here," we stopped at a light, "so I've heard,"
"Do you want me to be here?" I could feel him looking at me.
"If you want to be here,"
"I think I do,"
We pulled into the little eatery. It was a very small place but this isn't a very big town.
"This looks like a cute little place," he noted, "please," he paused, "allow me," he got out of the car before I had even turned it off, coming around to the driver side and opening my door.
"Give me a minute," I laughed, turning the car off. I let him take my hand to help me out.
He didn't let go of it until we got to the door.
We just sat ourselves and once we were settled in and had our drinks I realized this was going well.
I've been laughing ever since we sat down and I was kinda hoping our food would take a little long to come out so we could talk for a little longer.
"Do you like working at the school?" Harry changed the subject, "this little town?"
"Yeah," I made a face at him, "you really get to know all the students and most of the teachers are really close,"
"I've noticed you're not really close with the other teachers," he was stirring his water with his straw.
"Yeah when I first started I used to be a little bit more open... regarding my sexuality," I rolled my eyes, "a few of the older teachers aren't fond of it,"
Most of the people who work here are either new, or they just have never met me. I was surprised the Angie and Sarah didn't know. That's the type of news that travels fast.
"What about the younger ones?"
"I just don't bother," I could see the waitress carrying our food over, "I think it's a little bit... I don't know,"
Harry just nodded as they set the plates down in front of us. I thanked the waitress and smiled as she walked away.
"I've dealt with that before, that's why I was a little weary to come back to teach at a high school," he stuck his fork in his food a little while he talked, "When I knew there was an openly gay man I felt a little better," he sounded really genuine, "I didn't know he was so cute," the vulnerability was gone from his voice now. He was back to being a cocky asshole.
It made me laugh though.
I hid my smile as I ate, I didn't really want him to know how he was making me feel.
"I'm sorry I broke your paper weight, and ruined all your papers,"
"You know, it got us here, so I'm glad it happened," he was smiling big at me. He had gotten chicken Alfredo sans the chicken.
"I'll get you a new one," I held my pinky up to promise him.
Harry laughed a little but he linked his pinky with mine from across the table.
"I got it from my home town, in a small shop next to my childhood home," our pinky's were still linked, "The shop burned down last year, you won't be finding it anywhere,"
"Oh no did it mean anything to you?" I let go of his pinky, "It must have been special to you,"
"No I just made all that up," he smiled at me, but the fucker was lying.
