Hunter's p.o.v.
~*~*~*~^~^~*~*~*~
"Goodbye Hunter." Rosemallow said with emotionless. As she walked around the table my heart began pounding. When she was close to passing me, I reached out and grabbed her wrist, keeping her from leaving. "Let go of me!" Rosemallow scolded.
"Not until you listen to me."
"No! Leave me alone!" Rose began to scream, attempting to pull her wrist away from me.
"Rosemallow, please." I begged. Rose froze and looked at me like I wasn't me anymore.
"I... uh... okay..." Rose sighed. She seemed confused and disorientated as she sat back down in front of me. "Talk." Rosemallow stated with a shaky voice.
"Rose I-"
"It's Rosemallow."
"Rosemallow," I stated and she nodded her head waiting for me to continue, "I really like you and I don't know why I treated you the way I did. The year I wanted to talk to you, get to know you better my dad had passed away. You met him before he died-"
"And you unconsciously blamed me for his death." Rosemallow interfered before I could ramble on, huffing out the statement.
"No! Of course not!"
"Yes, that's what happened." She stated, her skin was a pale white in the warm sun. Her usual rosy cheeks were plain, like they were erased of all color. She held little to no emotion in her eyes and face, she looked like she would prefer to be dead in that moment. "Hunter, are you listening to me?" Rose asked. I looked into her blue eyes, since when were they blue?
"What?" I ask dumbly, mentally slapping myself for checking her out instead of listening to her.
"Ugh, you're impossible Hunter." Rosemallow sighed. "After explaining to you that that is what you did because that's how the human mind works, I asked how your family was doing after the whole accident with your father then I said we should get going because class is about to start.
"Oh, yeah, you're right."
"Nah duh." Rose said rolling her eyes as she picked her bag up from the bench. "I'm smarter than you."
"Yeah, you are." I mumbled knowing she was right, there was no way I would be smarter than her. "Do you, do you want to walk to class together?" I asked hopefully.
"Won't that ruin your reputation?" Rose asked with her sassy tone. "You know what Hunter? You can-"
"I'll take that as a yes. Let's go."
"No! Just so-"
"I won't do anything to you. And if anyone tries to bully, they would have to deal with me first." I stated and stood, after a second of hesitation, Rose followed and walked behind me with her head hung. She was always a sore thumb in the school, always standing out from the crowd.
"Why are you doing this?" Rose asked softly.
"I never wanted to hurt you," I started as we entered the school, "I don't know why I acted the way I did and I was hoping to fix things with you. And I know it would never be fully fixed but I want to try, I will do anything to make things better between us and-"
"This is my class." Rose piped in, cutting me off suddenly.
"Uh, Rose, wait!" I called as she began walking into her class.
"My name is Rosemallow." Rose snarled looking back to me.
"I know, but that's the only way I could get you to listen to me." I attempted to reason.
"Look Hunter, we cannot be friends. A bully and victim being friends is not possible. It would never work out. So, it would be best if we stay the way we are." Rose stated and walked into an English four classroom.
"Hey guys! Marshmallow's back!" A kid yelled from the class.
"Let's show her a lesson for skipping school and not doing our homework!" A girl growled lowly. I walked into the classroom and to the teachers' desk.
"How may I help you Hunter?" The middle-aged man asked, the class quieted and looked up to the front. Rose stood in the grip of a girl with the other students standing around them, her bag was thrown on the floor by her feet.
"You're letting this type of behavior occur in your class?" I asked.
"You're one to talk Hunter. You are the one that began this behavior, and it's not like we're paid to make sure you kids don't kill yourselves. Teachers only get paid to teach you kids and that's all." I stared at the teacher I disbelief, he cannot be serious. They would let kids kill each other just because they are not paid to make sure they don't? What kind of people are they?
"Man Hunter, you're acting weird lately, maybe if you get in a few good hits it would make you feel better!" A kid, Joshua, called from the group of kids. They automatically opened up a path so I could get to Rose and two people held her arms to keep her in place.
~~~~~~~~
At the end of the day I walked out of the school solemnly. Rose wouldn't spare me a second glance after what happened in her class. Why wouldn't she stand up for herself? Why did she just let everything happen? I saw Rose exit the school and head to the path she always takes home. I decided to follow to make sure no one decided to attack her. About three fourths of the way Rose turned on to a small road, I knew she didn't know I was behind her, I was far enough where she wouldn't hear me. I quickly followed her and after a while we turned up at a park, I looked around and no one was there. It looked completely abandoned, almost like we just walked straight into another world.
"What's the point anymore?" Rose asked, my heart stopped thinking that she was talking to me. Rose sighed and climbed onto a tree. "I don't know why I always think that one day you would answer back. You're gone and I'm left here, alone, in this rotten world." Rose sighed when she made it to the top of the tree, I hid behind a bush so I wouldn't be seen.
'Who is she talking to?' I thought to myself.
"Hunter did something weird today," Rose continued, "he treated me like an actual human. I can't help but wonder if what you said about him is true, since the way he normally treats me says otherwise. I wish you were here, we could chat and talk like old times. I want those times again. When everything wasn't as horrible." Rose looked down to the floor below her, she was on a pretty tall tree. Rose glanced up and climbed higher, I assumed I was trespassing in something personal, it felt like I was, but I didn't want her to fall and get hurt.
"Hehe," Rose giggled from the tree top, "remember when we would climb this tree and cuddle right here?" Rose asked the sky. "I miss you, like a lot. Why did you have to leave me? It was so long ago but it feels like yesterday when you left me to fend for myself."
I stayed in the bushes, 'who would ever want to leave Rose?' I questioned myself. 'She's amazing, talented, beautiful.' I wanted to hurt who ever had hurt Rose, she was up in a tree crying for heaven's sake saying she missed the person.
"Ray...I want to be near you again..." Rose stated, her eyes red and puffy with pink-tinted cheeks. I turned and saw Rose standing up onto the branch she was sitting on. "That is all I want...to be with you again..." Then she calmly, without a second thought, sidestepped off the branch and let herself fall to the floor below.
Finally got it up, hehe, now please stop threatening to kill me. You know who you are.
