Hunters p.o.v.

~*~*~*~^~^~*~*~*~

"Anything for you my flower." That new kid said in a loving way. His pale blue eyes shining as he looked into her blueish-purplish ones. Rose's cheeks tinted with a light red color as she looked away from Ray.

"I told you not to call me that."

"Hey, look at me." Ray said and he used his left hand to turn Rose's head to face him, her cheeks turned a darker shade of red. "I-" Ray turned to look at me as I was throwing mental daggers at him. 'Die.' "Uh, mind your own business dude." I huffed and turned around, placing my head down. After two minutes I heard Ray continue talking to Rose. "Rose, do you know him?" He asked curiously. There was silence for a while before I heard Rose's soft voice.

"Yes, I know him."

"Who is he?" Ray continued to ask. There was more silence and only my hearts rapid beating rang in my ears as I waited for her answer.

"No one." Rose spat bitterly. My heart sank at the thought that I would never be able to fix things with her, I truly messed up.

Near the end of the class, about ten minutes left, Ms. Jaxmis called for the papers that were passed out in the beginning of class. When Rose handed her paper to Kaylsie, there was no smart remark or bitter talking. Kaylsie's wrist was still a slight red from where Ray had grabbed it. That guy didn't know limits. I snatched his paper from his hands as he and Rose continued to talk. It was the most I heard her sweet voice.

"So, the teachers seriously don't give a crap about what happens with the students? As long as they report to class and do their work?" I heard Ray ask.

"That's the way it is. They do nothing about bullying or harassment." Rose replied.

"And what about the school board?"

"They don't care as long as the money is brought in. This is the lowest ranked school so on the outside they make it look like things are being done when they aren't."

"Wow." Ray breathed. "That's messed up."

"It's the way it is." I could hear the shrug in Rose's voice.

When the bell rang, marking the end of class, Rose and Ray walked out of class together. They were still talking, and Rose seemed to be completely immersed in the conversation. She was clung onto every word that slipped out of his mouth. I think back to anything that could have her like that. Anything he may have said, but I thought of nothing. I remember that I fell asleep for about ten minutes, maybe something was said then. I walked into my next class and saw Ray sitting in a desk that was empty prior to today. I glared at the boy next to me as I sat down. Why did he have to be put next to me?

"Hey, uh, Hunter? Was it?" Ray asked when he noticed me.

"Yeah, what you want?"

"How did you know I wanted something?" Ray smiled devilishly. "Ah, since you ask, I want you to leave Rose alone. She doesn't need you hurting her."

"I don't want to hurt Rose." I growled, how dare he accuse me of something like that. This is his first day, he knows nothing.

"And that's why you bully her?" Ray questioned. I stared at him dumbfounded, how did he know that? It would be impossible for him to know something like that. "Ah, so it's true."

"I don't bully her." I stated firmly.

"Kids, please pay attention. Today the writing prompt will be to write about what is beautiful to you. It will be due next class and you must read it to the class." The English teacher yawned. "Get to work, it's a grade."

"That isn't professional." Ray shook his head.

"Get used to it, that's how things run around here." I chuckled, why did he join a school he knew nothing about?

"Just so you know, Rose is very important to me. I would like it if you don't hurt her more than you already have." Ray said already writing on the piece of paper that was handed out.

~~Later~~

Walking down the crowded hallways I think of how Rose could be so important to Ray. He hardly knows her, she keeps almost everything to herself.

"Are you willing to tell me why and what you were running away from the other day?" I heard Ray's voice ask. I looked around and saw him and Rose near Rose's locker.

"Why do you want to know?" Rose asked in her snarky voice.

"Because I care Rose."

"Why do you care? You don't know me!" Rose raised her voice.

"You remind me of the girl I love. She was taken away from me because of a car crash and her mom." Rose's eyes widened and she mumbled something like 'sorry'. "Will you tell me now?" Rose nodded.

"Someone I care about was taken away from me a few years ago, he died in a car crash. He is, was, my world. I felt like I couldn't bare another day without him so, after one failed attempt two weeks ago I tried again a week ago. Hunter, the boy that bullies me, happened to be there to save me. I ran so he wouldn't be able to do anything and I ran from you because you remind me of the boy I love, the one I lost." Rose explained to Ray. Reality hit me like a fastball in baseball, at Rose's house and at the park, she attempted suicide. How many other times did she attempt to kill herself? How many times did I almost push her to the edge? I walked to the cafeteria without being noticed by the two that were deeply immersed in their conversation. I didn't want to be known to Rose as the boy that bullied her, I wanted to be more than her friend. Another boy was her first love, but I wanted to be the love of her life. I just needed to figure out how to do that.

"Leave me alone Hunter." Rose said when she saw me walking up to her after the day ended.

"I just want to talk." I pleaded.

"No." Rose spat. "You are here just to torment me."

"And have I?" I questioned.

"Is something wrong here?" A masculine voice sounded. I turned and saw Ray standing behind me.

"Everything's fine Ray, let's go." Rose said and they linked hands and walked away from the school.
