I looked up to see two brunettes. They were pretty, and looked friendly.
" Um, no, go ahead."
She sat down to my left. "Hi, I'm DJ. I haven't seen you before."
"I'm Becky. I'm new."
DJ's friend sat to my right. "I'm Kimmy; Deej and I are neighbors."
"Did you just move here?" DJ wondered.
"Yes, from Valentine, Nebraska."
" Nebraska?" Kimmy repeated. " The cheese state? Don't you get tired of cheese?"
I smiled. "No."
"Why not?"
"Maybe cause Nebraska's the corn state, do-do. Wisconsin is the cheese state," a girl in front of us said.
" oh. Is that why there's a big hole in the ozone?"
I laughed out loud. The girls stared at me; I blushed, clearing my throat. "That was—" I cleared it again.
" you must be new," the redhead girl who insulted Kimmy said. "I'm Casey, and I'm a cheerleader. Have been ever since Junior high!"
"Oh, um, I'm Becky,and,uh, I'm... normal?"
"We'll see about that." She whipped her head around.
"Don't mind Casey, she's Kinda, well," DJ started.
"Stuck up?" I asked aloud.
DJ nodded.

While I was walking to class, I bumped into somebody. We tumbled to the ground.
"Hey, watch— Have mercy!" The tall student smiled at me. He had jet black hair, wore jeans, and a leather jacket.
"I'm so sorry. I-I didn't—didn't mean to-" I stumbled over my words.
"Hey, it's cool." He stood up, then helped me up. "It was my- my, Uh, fault."
"There you are, Becky." DJ came over.
"Hi, DJ." I turned around. "I guess I got lost."
"Come on, biology is next."
"Oh, joy."
I couldn't concentrate during biology; I kept thinking about that handsome student I had bumped into. Once I had turned around, he was gone. Hopefully, I'd see him again.
"....Uh, Becky?"
I looked up. "Yes, Mrs. Smee?"
"Smith. Can you answer the question?"
"Uh.... I'm sorry, I missed the question." I said softly.
"Can anyone tell Becky what the question was?... Alisa?"
"You asked what's the simplest form of life."
"Oh, um," I tried to remember my sixth grade life science. "Uh, the, Uh, the atom?"
"Very good, Miss Donaldson."
I sighed, going back to my thoughts.
