If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven.Matthew 19:21

The biggest trap of all is when we are trying to gain worldly treasures and earthly wealth. The truth is that you cannot take those things with you when you leave this earth ( 1 Timothy 6:7-10).

Are we concerned with the things of this world or with the things of God? (Matthew 6:19-21).  What will we do to serve God? What are we willing to do to obtain material possessions? Will we sin against God to obtain those things?

The truth is that sometimes material things hinder us from serving God. The rich man had an opportunity to sell and give everything away to follow Jesus and he would not, because he was focused more on the things of this world than the things of God. His material possessions kept him separated from the things of God (Matthew 19:16-24).

"If you decide for God, living a life of God-worship, it follows that you don't fuss about what's on the table at mealtimes or whether the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds. Matthew 6:25-26

Know this is truly a temporary place even if we live to be 100 years old that is 1/10 of a day with the Lord (2 Peter 3:8).

However, we hope for something we have not yet seen, and we patiently wait for it. Romans 8:25
