The Winter Days

To some you are a curse,
Harsh, cold and bleak.
Bringing with you frost
And an inescapable feeling,
That all that is beautiful must die.
Dark replacing light,
Cold replacing warmth.
Death replacing life,
Brown replacing green.

To me you are a blessing,
Bright, happy and full.
Bringing with you another year
Of love and laughter and life.
Snow angels and snowmen,
Replace scorched and cracked earth.
Cosy evenings with warm winter fires,
Replace the sweat inducing heat of the sun.

Winters gentle kiss, is only what you make it.
