Phoebe's mind was eerily calm, quiet almost - save for a dull ringing in her ears, enough to drown out the noise of the crowd. Usually, at a time such as this, Phoebe knew her mind would be racing, but for some reason now it wasn't. She would've expected to be painstakingly reliving every memory with Peter, everything she should've said to him, but she wasn't. That wasn't to say that her mind was empty, though. No, instead it was simply filled with one word - his name.

She desperately wanted to dismiss her worries, to wipe them away, to have complete and utter confidence in Peter's abilities, but she couldn't. There would always be some tiny part of her which knew that she could lose him, far sooner than she expected. Peter, Caspian, and Edmund stood secluded, away from the crowd, discussing the details of the plan. Phoebe couldn't even bring herself to be offended at the fact they didn't include her. After all, she knew why.

Part of her wondered - was this what she had saved Peter from? This constant worry, this fear that drove her out of her own mind. This fear that she would never see him smile again, or hear him laugh again, or tell him she loved him, or kiss him again. Had she saved Peter from this worry, this pain? Or had she put him in more pain by hiding her fate from him, all that time ago? Phoebe didn't know - but if it was indeed the former, some small part of her couldn't help but feel like she had done the right thing in not telling him.

Susan was standing next to her, both of them seeming practically shell-shocked from Peter's decision. Phoebe knew that he would fight with all he had, and she knew that both girls had faith in him. She just didn't know if that would be enough. Was anything ever enough? Phoebe wondered slightly if Aslan really had abandoned them this time. It wouldn't surprise her, really. Lucy stood near them too, all three girls banding together. All of them cared for Peter, and all of them were afraid to lose him.

"He'll be alright, won't he?" Phoebe could hear the tremor in Susan's voice. She knew it would match her own if she tried to speak. After all, it was justified. The last time they had put their lives on the line, it had been together. Always together. But it wouldn't be that way this time - Peter would fight Miraz one on one, and they would be powerless to help Peter. Perhaps that was what scared Phoebe the most. She swallowed around the ball of fear and worry which had taken up residence in her throat, trying to speak.

"I hope so." Both girls fell quiet, Phoebe leaning her head onto Susan's shoulder. "He's Peter. He can get through anything." Susan laughed slightly, but it was a sad laugh. A melancholy laugh. Phoebe knew that Susan had always thought that about Peter. He was her older brother, after all. Even Lucy admired him endlessly. They believed he could get through anything. Phoebe supposed today would be the test of that.

"You're sure you're alright to find Aslan? I mean, how do you know he'll be there?" Phoebe allowed herself to voice her concerns at last, addressing both Susan and Lucy, although she knew that the youngest Pevensie's belief in Aslan was constant and unwavering. It always had been.
