PROLOGUE
Jace, Isabelle and Alec all headed to the clubs. They had a mission to complete. Then the girl Jace ran into out the front had stopped their mission in the middle of it and she took off.
Jace tracked her down and bought her back to the institute after she passed out and then explained about the shadowworld.

5 years ago a basket was left on the steps of the institute containing a newborn baby girl.
Maryse was the one to find her late at night as the alarms were sounding around the institute.
She picked up the baby who was wrapped in a soft white blanket that had a note attached to it.
'Jace this is your daughter Phoenix. I cannot watch her anymore'
Maryse sighed and bought the baby inside and out of the cold. She ended up watching her for the rest of the night as she thought of what would happen.
When it was morning and her children were all awake she gave Jace the note and the baby.
"She's your responsibility now" was all Maryse said before walking off.
