The Blackened Waif

Far in the moonlight, the boy grasped his hand

Memories shot in an instant, blown away as the sand

Lost in a city, his arms tucked alone

Fear in his footsteps, from skin to his bone

-

The night streets stepped away from his misery untold

From the road on his journey, he was found in the cold

A mother and a father, childless yet fair

Held the blackened waif with a stare, fingers through his dark hair

(Chorus) 1:15-2:12

Many years went behind him, powers only to be seen

The crowds witnessed his talents as he stood in grass green

While kings gathered together, wishing only for his fate

Of blood and of fire, soiled robes a floodgate

-

One day, he returned to the home of his kin

With a door opened behind him, there dripped fear from his skin

A mother and a father, childless yet fair

Laying dead on the floorboards, shaken grip in his stare

-

With flight, he went to a yonder hill

In a call, he was found, blamed for the kill

To chains and to flames, he was brought to the scorch

Yet in fear of his fall, the crowd was struck, standing as clay, with not even the sight of a torch

-

Far in the moonlight, the man grasped his hand

Memories shot in an instant, blown away as the sand

Lost in a city, his arms tucked alone

Fear in his footsteps, from skin to his bone
