I was on my way to pick up Alexa and ride to school together. I couldn't get Emma out of my head and I started to feel guilty. Not that I was thinking about her romantically, I just didn't want her playing any mind games with Alexa, they used to be so close.

"Hey love, how are you?" Alexa asked as she got in. I leaned towards her and greeted her with a kiss. "So much better now."

"I think I'm gonna have to cancel our plans tonight, they moved cheerleading practice two hours later. Freshmen are having trouble with some of the routines, ugh. We had all summer you'd think they would've gotten them."

"That's fine babe, I'll probably hang out with the guys." Seth was probably just gonna stay home and play video games, I don't think he'd mind some company.

I started to drive and couldn't help but notice Alexa being very silent.

"I think we should talk about Emma.." Alexa started. I kept my eyes on the road, to not give any signs of discomfort. I hated talking about Emma, she was just someone I couldn't talk about.

"Talking about her will only make things worse, trust me love you don't want to." I could feel her staring, which caused my hands to tighten around the steering wheel. "Dean, I was there."

"Emma, broke you. I just don't want her-"

"She won't, just drop it alright?" I snapped. The rest of the ride was silent. I couldn't help but feel bad about.. everything. When we got to school I got out to open the door for her but she had beat me to it. "Let me walk you to class." I mumbled.

"I know the way Dean." She grabbed her bag and slammed my door. "Yo, really?" I looked at her walk away as she gave me the finger.

I walked my ass to class and avoided anyone and anything I could. At least I didn't have to see Alexa tonight, so I could think all of it through. But what exactly was there to think of?

I love Alexa, Alexa loves me. She cares for me, and vice versa. "Emma broke you."  And Alexa was there..she dealt with my anger issues, put up with all the girls I would hook up with and she still loved me? Throughout all that, she took the risk of being with me, loving me, knowing there was a risk I wouldn't feel the same.

"Ahem. Seat taken?" I looked up from my desk confused. "No, go ahead." She sat in the seat to my left and took out a book.

I couldn't remember her name but I knew she was friends with that Finn guy. "May I help you?"

I didn't think I was staring at her for so long. "Sorry, I was just trying to remember your name."

"April, but they call me Aj." She hesitantly replied.

"My brotha!" Seth called out as he entered the class. He stopped in front of Aj's desk and fist bumped her.

"I didn't know you had this class." I said interrupting their little talk. "I requested the class, I'm not trying to stress myself out next year."

We were in a US government class, a senior class. There were very few juniors in here, I personally didn't request this class. My counselor thought it'd be easier for me to get my important classes finished early.

Seth was sitting in the desk right in front of me, to be able to talk to me, and Aj. I wanted to ask Aj about Emma, how they knew each other, why they were friends, and what Emma was planni-

saying about me.

My mood completely changed for the worse when I saw a group of senior girls walk in among them, Emma.

"April!" Emma made her way to the back, but stopped as soon as she saw me.

"What are you doing in the back?" I could tell April was a bit uncomfortable. "I'm sitting."

"Well yeah.. but in the back?" Emma looked at me and smiled. "Didn't know you two were friends."

"The best of them" Seth joked as he sat right in front of AJ. Emma didn't say another word and sat with her friends up front.

"So Paige and I are gonna hang out after lunch, wanna come?" Seth asked before during a lesson. I glanced over at Emma. "I can't promise Emma won't be there though." I could tell April felt a bit uncomfortable not knowing what was going on. "Yeah I'll be there."

Hoping, Emma would there.

- couple hours later -

I knew I wasn't supposed to be here, not with Emma. But we weren't alone, Seth and Paige were with us, as a group.

Emma was still the most laid back girl I knew.

She still had her jokes, even those she couldn't finish because of how much she made herself laugh. Seth and Paige were caught up in their video game, they didn't notice when Emma and I had left the room.

"Not gonna lie, I'm glad your back blondie." I said breaking the silence. Blondie was my nickname for her ever since we met. "Really? It didn't really seem like it." She smiled as she turned to me. "Well I was worried, for Alexa." I said breaking eye contact and looking down.

"I've missed you Mox, I really did."

"It's just when you left-" I stopped myself before I went any further. "I guess I just couldn't believe you were back, you know?"

Emma giggled. "I thought it would be more fun, it was funny to see people's faces Dean-"

"But Emma, you can't just come back, and act like nothing has changed here. Everything is different now, and Alexa-"

Alexa, for a second I forgot about her.

"Alexa is my girlfriend now, and I would like for you to respect that." I could tell Emma was holding back, she wanted to say something but she knew she couldn't. "You're right, Alexa and I ended things badly before and.."

She let out a long sigh. "I don't wanna hurt Lex more than I already did."
