"I'm doing it!"

All there was, was the sound of the chair squeaking coming to a stop and Peter swinging out.

Wednesday - 8:30 pm | Earth-1610

You trailed behind your friends, your mind was completely blank and your expression was stoic as you and the other spiders stepped out of the bus.

"We're here. Come on." Gwen stated, turning to you specifically.

"Huh?" You replied absentmindedly, causing Gwen to shoot you a look.
"You have to concentrate, alright? Now's not the time for any distractions."

Flaring your nostrils, you bit your lip and nodded anyway, "You're right, sorry."

You disliked that she had a point but all you could think about was Miles and how you had let him down.

Although, behind all that, something at the back of your head made you feel a little more content. A small glimmer of hope that perhaps Miles did have the strength to be like everyone in the shortcoming time.

It was obvious that whilst he didn't show it, there was something you saw in his eye where every time you looked at him, you were taken aback that it was still there.

Determination.

You shook your head dismissively to yourself. Gwen was right, you needed to focus on your mission. Otherwise, there were going to be a lot of casualties if you didn't.

"It's alright, now let's go." She replied and you could almost feel her smile through her mask.

Still, there was a tug at your heart. You weren't supposed to be here. You felt your presence elsewhere.

Literally.

Everyone began to swing towards their destination, flying by through the air before landing on a gigantic mechanical crane.

You chuckled, as you remembered your old fear of heights, standing up from your squatted position to eye the brightly lit penthouse in the distance.

All the spider people carried their view over to the ground below it, showing the multiple stories of the building holding up the penthouse.
