Macey just got asked to Winter Formal by Ryan. How do I know? Well she ran to tell her friends about it, none of them were around, then she saw me. Macey was one of those girls who were easily manipulated, not in the boy sense, in the friendship sense. When something doesn't go her way, well... let's just say she needs some anger management classes. Her Instagram was also filled with pictures of the poster and flowers he got her as a gesture to ask. I scrolled through and noticed everyone else getting dates to the formal. I suppose deep down it was bothering me, I'd never had anyone like that. No one has ever liked me in that sense. I've never kissed anyone, I've never even liked anyone like that before. It's dating season so everyone is beginning to get into relationships, most last for a couple months and end during March, breakup season.
I know how lonely I am, I spend weekends cuddled up in a blanket, sitting on my couch and reading a good book or watching Netflix. I help my siblings with their homework, do my own, and sometimes babysit. Other than those things, I do absolutely nothing. Deep down, I do want someone. I'm just not ready for it. I scan my Instagram feed and keep seeing the same happy and bright faces with flowers to compliment the pairs off perfectly. A sad smile came to my face as I looked through them, if only.
"Leah." I heard Lucas coming my way. He was walking towards me with a smile on his face, "Hey!" He waved at me. Since he was so happy I'm going to assume he did good on his math test he had to retake.
I gave him a small smile. "Hi." I said when he came up to me. Lucas sat beside me, the wind blowing in our faces. I attempt to bury my face into my hoodie which didn't help considering it was soaked. Somehow it ended up in the snow earlier today and hadn't dried off completely.
Lucas noticed, he always did. "Come on." He took my arm and dragged me over to his car, mine was still defrosting, I couldn't get into it yet. His car was one of those newer ones that with the touch of a button, it starts. He throws a green hoodie at my face and I look at it, a shamrock on the front and his last name right above it. I've seen him wear this hoodie, it looked nice. "There you go."
"Huh?" I look from the hoodie to him confused. He's giving me his hoodie? Friends do this?
He smiled, "Take it, I know you're freezing." He chuckled, "I would much rather have you warm than get sick." My cheeks heated up so I quickly took off my hoodie and put his on. It smelled like his cologne, or maybe that's just how he smells, his car has the same smell. As my arms went through the sleeves, I noticed how big it was, just the torso went down to the middle of my thighs. The sleeves draped downwards and went way past my hands.
He smiled down at me, "Wanna hang out?"
I looked up at him shocked. I was unsure of what to say. Hang out where? More importantly, why? "Now?" I asked him.
He chuckled, "Yeah now."
The super long sleeves covered the lower part of my face perfectly. "Well... I mean... do what?" I looked up at him nervously. Being spontaneous and making plans like this wasn't me. I preferred to not have plans and just go home.
"Let's just go out, are you hungry? Let's go out and eat." He put out half of the work already. He must not have homework today, usually he rushes home after asking me to tutor him in school. Then he would text me for help if he needed it.
I didn't know what to say then my phone started ringing in my back pocket. It was Ally. "Hello?" I answered it.
"Heyyyyyy, there's my favorite sibliiiing." Ally said stretching her words sounding innocent. She wanted something. Her needy/innocent voice annoyed me, it almost ignited a raging fire inside of me. I hated it with a passion.
I bit my lip, "What do you want?" I demanded. I didn't feel like going through the whole charade where she asks me questions about my day and then she asks trying to butter it up.

To You,
Short StoryI just wanted to feel as if someone like you exists. You were the only one who cared enough to talk to me. The only one kind enough to try to get me to say more than two words. The only one who cared enough to keep me around, I know that by the time...
