Piper can't give Percy and Annabeth their space...but surely it's fine as long as they don't find out?
(Post The Blood of Olympus)
~Piper's POV~

Piper couldn't take her eyes off of them. She refused to give them any privacy. Simply because she absolutely adored Percy and Annabeth's relationship- up to the point where she was camped out right at the edge of the woods, which gave out to the yellow sand of Camp Half-Blood's beach.

The early afternoon sun shone brightly in the baby blue sky, its rays covered everything in sight, excluding Piper, who had sought out refuge in the shadows of the thick palm trees.

Unfortunately, Piper was unable to escape the sweltering heat and sweat patches were forming on her shirt as she continued to peer into the distance- right where the waves lapped against the shore, sat Percy and Annabeth, side-by-side, with their backs towards her.

The water was a brilliant sea-green in the sun. The same colour as Percy's eyes, Piper thought. Before she realised she had clearly spent way too much time with Annabeth for her own good.

Both Percy and Annabeth were dressed in their orange camp shirts. Annabeth wore jean shorts and her gray sandals while Percy was sat in his trunks, but there was no way of telling whether he had already been for a swim since those sons of Poseidon can't get wet.

From her view in between tree trunks, they were sat with their legs stretched out, arms down by their sides with Annabeth resting her head on Percy's shoulder, her curly blonde hair falling loosely down her back.

There wasn't anyone else around, apart from them. Everyone else had their regular afternoon activities. It had been more than a week since Piper and her friends had defeated Gaia, and Chiron was keen for everyone to get back into the swing of things, especially Percy and Annabeth.

Ever since Tartarus, they had been inseparable. Piper couldn't blame them, she hadn't been to hell and back.

Yet.

From what she had heard though, mostly from Annabeth, that wasn't something she would ever want to go through. They seemed much more relaxed the last few days, especially since Annabeth decided she would finish her senior year in New York with Percy, she had mentioned to Piper they would be leaving camp in a few days, right before school started.

At the moment, they were completely unaware of Piper's presence, but she couldn't risk getting any closer in fear they would catch her eavesdropping. She was struggling as it was though, to keep up with their conversation and she silently cursed Aphrodite for not gifting her with god-like hearing. Surely her mom would consider such an ability necessary in order for her children to keep up with their favourite couples?

However, from what she could hear, Percy and Annabeth were deep in conversation about something that went on last night.

"I keep having that dream." She could hear Percy complain, but it wasn't his usual light-hearted tone. For someone who was known for being goofy, Percy Jackson hadn't spent much time horsing around lately. He had mostly kept to Annabeth since the war with the giants ended.

"It'll get better Seaweed Brain, just give it time."

"Yeah, but I'm scared Annabeth, don't you get it? I can't lose you again!"

The desperation in Percy's voice seemed so genuine. It made Piper feel guilty she was eavesdropping on such a vulnerable and private moment. She shifted uncomfortably in her hiding spot, maybe she should have given them some privacy?
