Chapter 8 Gone

Alice's POV

 How did it all go wrong? The beginning of the dance was great, Max, Aiden, Bella, Vanessa, I look over to see Max unconscious, and Aiden terribly wounded, Bella's dress is torn as she's weeping about what just happened,  I look at my forearm to see scars, bruises, and wounds, and I can't help but wonder, where did it all go wrong? And then, my vision went dark.

Earlier that day...

 I am so over the moon ecstatic about the dance, nothing can go wrong, I have a gut feeling in my stomach. When I told Bella that I was going she was so happy and she screamed really, really loud. This is my chance to patch things up with Aiden and play matchmaker with Max and Bella. As I slipped into my silk lavender dress I heard a knock at the door, "In a minute!" I said. I quickly changed into my dress and got my hair ready, I walked up to the wooden door and turned the golden handle. "A-Adien?" Hey Alice, look I'm really sorry about what happened, but last time I checked, It's not fun to go to a dance without a date," he said while smiling. Was this really happening? Was Aiden going to be my date to the dance? I smiled warmly. "I would love that," I exclaimed. "Let me just go get my shoes and I'll be right there," I hurriedly put on my shoes and when I turned to face the door, Aiden was holding a bouquet of Forget-Me-Not's, I gasped, "Aiden, where did you get these?" "I have my ways," he said slyly. As we were walking to dance, we talked about random stuff to pass the time by. The decorations for the dance were breathtaking, the courtyard was engulfed in beautiful vines, then it dawned me, "Aiden, isn't this a masquerade?" I asked. I looked over to see Aiden wearing a mask smiling, I giggled and put my mask on.

Aiden's POV

I can't believe I mustered up the courage to ask Alice to the dance, she looks so beautiful in her dress, and it's not hard to see that it's her in the mask. I look beside me and clench my teeth. Max. "Kingsley!" He exclaims. Even his voice irks me. "Hi, Max! Who are you taking to the dance?" As she says that, Bella appears next to him, "Me!" She exclaims. "Looks like I don't have to play matchmaker after all," Alice replies slyly. Just as she says that a huge explosion shakes the earth, we all fall to the ground and out of the smoke a figure appears, her gaze stone-cold, and she's wearing a mask. She reaches out her bony hand and Alice levitates into the air. "You," she says, her voice raspy and full of venom. Alice's face is in pure shock and fear. "W-Who are you?" She asks. The woman laughs, "My dear, you have no idea." She throws Alice against the wall and knocks her unconscious. I try to use my powers against her but it's no use, I only ended up hurting myself, Max lunges toward her with a purple flame, huh, he's a witch, his attack fails and he's thrown against the wall, badly bruised. Bella throws a flaming ball of fire at the woman, but she deflects it, again Bella throws fire, only this time to be chucked mercilessly against the wall.

Alice's POV 

What happened? I look around to see all my friends terribly bruised and hurt, my head is pounding, the woman must've thrown me into the wall. The entire dance is on fire, and everyone else fleed, then I get whisked into a portal.

Bella's POV

Why? The dance was supposed to be perfect, why did this have to happen, I look around and see Max holding his arm, he must've gotten attacked, Aiden lay helplessly on the floor, and Alice, Alice! I run up to her but she disappears along with the woman, she took her! Alice is gone!
