Chapter 23: Old Encounters

Shay pov

It was Sunday evening, I was waiting out at the bullhead station for Blake so we could head into Vale again. I was looking at my sword while I waited, it was still the same, but the same glow it had before it was shattered. I heard footsteps coming my way and turned, it was Blake. I smile at her

Blake: Hey

Shay: Hey

Blake: You ready?

Shay: Ready as I'll ever be

The blade of my sword dissolved and I put the hilt to my side. We went inside the Bullhead and sat beside each other

Blake: So tell me, how did you learn how to fight?

Flashback

Shay pov

We all sat down on the couch, that thing that crashed through our cabin window was dead, thanks to one of the other Ajin nearby, they killed it. Right now I was staring at Crimson, as well as Y/n, Grey, and Cayde

Crimson: *Sigh* You want answers

Grey: And therapy

Crimson: *Chuckle* Walk with me

He walked out of the cabin and we followed suit. We walked around Eden and saw more of theose things lying on the ground limp, face filled with arrows or knives. We made it to a building that was a bit larger than the others. Crimson opened the doors and we entered. We looked around the place and saw paintings, they looked ancient. I saw one that stood out to me, it had those things and dozens of hooded people, who I assumed were Ajins

Crimson: Those things that attacked, we call them Seekers. Blind creatures that hunt with their sense of hearing, unmatched by any animal or human. Armour like skin so strong not even the sharpest sword, fastest bullet, nor even the most devastating explosion in all of Remnant can pierce it, nor even make a dent. Us Ajin have protected the rest of Remnant from the Seekers for years

Y/n: Do you know where they come from?

Crimson: That is for another time

Cayde: But why did you bring us here?

Crimson: To know of our legacy, our duty...

Crimson opened two giant doors that led to another room. We entered and saw sculptures, paintings, weapons, and clothing

Crimson: As Guardians

We looked in wonder, taking in all of the amazing things we were seeing

Crimson: Our people are more than immortals, we are protectors of all of Remnant. Sworn to protect innocent, and eliminate those who dare harm them. Faunus or Human, if they show or have done ill intention against that people, we will show no mercy

Y/n: Why are you showing us this

Crimson: Because you four are one of us, you deserve to know

Cayde: And?

Crimson: We want to train you to become Guardians

Grey: What?

Crimson: You heard me

Shay: Um, are you sure? We're just kids

Crimson: I begun my teaining at your age, now I must know, are you willing to?

I looked at Y/n and the others. Y/n was looking down in thought as the others were looking at him as well. Y/n then looked at us and looked back at Crimson

Y/n: What do we have to do?

Crimson: Are you willing to give your immortal life to defending this world? Are you willing to take lives in order to save them? Are you willing to kill the wicked? Save the innocent?
