*(EDITED)*
Wow 110 views!! remember to fav and comment...I may introduce grace in the next chapter. this story will follow the plot of the show but quiet loosely, events may be in a slightly different order. Enjoy!
I made my way quickly to the bedrooms Tommy's kiss burning into my skin. Whilst he was seeing Billy Kimber, I sat on my bed looking down at my hands and replying the last hour in my head. Tommy cared for me, he was going to kiss me! Would my first real kiss be with Thomas Shelby? The thought of a man touching me made me feel sick after what my 'fiancée' did to me, his hands raking my body his lips on my neck. It didn't go any further than that, but I promised myself I would never let a man handle me like that again. Would Tommy be different? The way he held my face and my hands, he was gentle, yet rough I had enjoyed his touch.
I didn't spend much time in my room, only using it to sleep and bath. It didn't really feel like my room as it used to be Ada's before she gave birth to her son. I stood off the bed and walked over to the door and opened it quietly. I could hear the muffled voice of Tommy and some other men downstairs. His voice was extremely distinct with its low grumble.
Knowing they were occupied I walked along the corridor and towards one of the other doors that lined the hall. I never usually snoop but something was drawing me to have a look in Tommy's room. I had never seen him go to bed or get up in the morning. I had heard him getting in at all hours when I was reading late, and I assumed he got up before 7 because when I was up, he was already working or out. I walked over to his door and pushed it open slowly, being careful not to let it swing and bang against the wall.
His room was bare, it didn't feel like it was really his, I was just a room in a house. His bed was small like mine except he had a thicker looking blanket. The cold nights I had spent in the Shelby house would be made a lot better if I had a blanket like that. The curtains were drawn and the small oil lamp on the night stand was extinguished making the room look smaller and darker than it really was.
Just like Tommy the room was hidden, its exterior didn't show anything, it had secrets. I walked over to the bed and picked up the blanket. I was cold and maybe Tommy wouldn't mind if I took it back to my room while I was waiting. I did have a fire in my room, but I didn't want to waste the coal and to be honest I didn't know the first thing about lighting a fire. As I moved the blanket a small black pipe rolled onto the floor and made a small bang. I froze, listening to the voices down stairs continue to murmur, they hadn't heard me.
I picked up the small pipe from the floor and inspected it, slowly turning it in my hands. I knew exactly what this was. It was opium. My father would smoke it often, and my brother too. I sucked in a small breath and placed the pipe on the bedside table, hoping Tommy wouldn't know I had touched it. I didn't think Tommy would do such things...he seemed so clean cut, so focused on his business it was strange to think he would let anything mist his mind.
My father I think does it to forget...forget the people he had hurt, the people he has killed... maybe that's why Tommy does it? Polly did say he fought in the war.
"Right Shelby, I will see you in a weeks time." A voice sounded from downstairs.
"Mr. Kimber." The door down stairs slammed and I heard footstep begin up the stairs. If Tommy caught me in here...I don't know what he would do.
I quickly rapped the blanket around my shoulders and walked out of the door with my head down.
"Amelia?" Tommy stood there, he looked...I don't know how he looked...
"Sorry Tommy, I was cold."
His jaw clenched and he walked towards me. "You should have lit a fire. Don't you have a blanket in your room?"
