Setting Her Free

Though I'd known her all my life

I don't remember how

I don't remember when

But I didn't notice until our lips met for the first time

The light from her smile never truly reached her eyes

This was a fact I knew was true when all the pieces fell into place, with that fake smile carefully sketched across her face

When she was with others that's when it shone through, she was only pretending, parading around like nothing bothered her.

Truth was she was silently screaming out in pain from the loneliness she felt inside.

I was the only one that could see

Just how lonely she could really be

That's when I realized she was the only one for me.

The only one that could hear her silent lonely screams from the sadness she breathed

It was in every poem, every breath, in everything, hidden away waiting to be seen.

And with a single kiss my eyes were open to her secrets and lies waiting to be set free by none other than we.
