Third POV

They left hand in hand, all back to their homes to move on and forget

The car ride was quiet, Ethan's fingers fumbled about as Grayson kept steady hands on the wheel, reaching one out to hold Ethan's, calming him down, letting him know it's just him, and that it's ok

He let the tears go, holding the hand close to his chest, lips pressed against them

They got home shortly after, Grayson leading them inside, locking the door and on their way to the couch, picking Ethan up setting him on his hips and laying down on the couch to rest

Ethan fell asleep to the gentle rocks of Grayson's chest, the beat resonating through his head of Grayson's heart

Grayson looked down at his Ethan, cheeks red and puffed, eyes crinkled close, the ends of his eyelids crusted in a tinted pink

The week that followed was Stacy's funeral, he told Ethan he didn't need to go, but he wanted to, wants to be there like Grayson will and did, doesn't want to be left alone either, he could stay with Harry, and Zayn too probably but it's different with Grayson

Gray leaned his head back, hands coming to rest on the back of Ethan's head, the other on the curve of his back

He thought back to their kiss, how glad he was that Ethan chose to stay with him, how everything will get better, sooner or later they'll be ok

Grayson woke to the smell of chicken broth and a light uncomfortable feeling on his chest from the body laid there before, getting up he sees Ethan stood over a pot as he walks to the kitchen, "Hey" he says, a hand curling around his waist as he stands to the right for a view of the food

"Feelin okay?" Grayson wonders, "Yeah, just making some soup, it'll be done soon if you could get the plates out"

Grayson walks to the cabinets with his hand squeezing E's side for a second before, grabbing two bowls and setting them by Ethan before taking out two water bottles and a small stack of napkins to set on the table, two spoons and Ethan's carrying the bowls to the table

Sat next to each other they eat, "I was looking at homes we could move into, selling this house and mine we could get a decent amount for a pretty good one,"

Grayson thought it'd be better to move Ethan out of here and himself out of his current place, a new start for them both, a place for the two of them where it didn't remind them of what they lost

"Could use the extra money to get you some new furniture, maybe some clothes or a new tv if you want?" Grayson knew he didn't want to stay at his current address, it reminded him of Stacy and what he feels like he's deprived her of, that he should have let her go sooner and that's why she is where she lies now, dead

This place reminds him of Kate all too much, he wants to move in to a new place to start new memories with Ethan, forget this feeling they have of regret or sorrow, try and move past it and just be happy they have each other, a place he can come home to Ethan, call theirs, take care of him in, maybe in time sleep together with and share a room, drawers stuffed with their shirts and pants, closet filled with both their sweaters, their shoes scattered off in a corner

He wants this new house to be a place he can enjoy with him, play video games or dance around in, pick Ethan up from school and drop him off in the morning, kiss him goodbye as he starts for work and his own studies

He's not sure how Ethan thinks of all this, moving into a new home, leaving the one his late mother owned and took care of him in, they hadn't lived here long, Ethan and Kate, a couple years, growing up in the apartment downtown moving out and into this place when Kate saved up enough money for it

"Yeah, I think I'd like that" truth is Ethan didn't want to stay here either, it reminded him of his mom every time he woke up, walking between rooms, using the bathroom, eating, everything, it made his skin crawl and want to break down right then and there, every second spent in that house made him want to leave and stay altogether

The constant reminder bugging at him that his moms gone, dead and buried in the dirt now, a stone placed above that doesn't tell her story, her life, just the dates of her birth to the day it ended and a couple words that didn't explain enough

"When do you think we could move out?" He wanted to leave quick, the sooner the better, maybe even move into Grays home until they got the new place, and that's what he asks for now, to stay at his place instead

Grayson wants to say no, wants to tell him that he doesn't want to step foot in there, forget about it and leave it behind, but he can't imagine what Ethan feels living here, his mother, someone that's supposed to care for you and love you endlessly in a manner that no one can come close to, gone

He nods before noticing Ethan's staring at his soup with empty eyes of brown, "Yeah, we can stay there until then"

They finish their last spoons of soup before he goes up to help him pack, grabs a suitcase from the basement as Ethan starts taking clothes out of his closet and drawers

They finish packing and leave for Grayson's, in Ethan's lap a bag of the photos they were looking at the other day, he has one taken out, the one they used for the funeral, sweeping his thumb around it with eyes dull and constricted

Suitcase is in the trunk, a few of Kate's things were brought too, they'd have to go back later when either a new set of people moved in or they left for their new one

Grayson parks on the street side outside of his front door, walking to the back taking the 39lb bag of Ethan's belongings

They walk inside with Ethan trailing behind, head hung low as they enter
