Third POV

Grayson was calling in to see how selling Kate's old house would go, if any remodeling needed to be done, anything fixed or improved to increase its value and get the most out of it

The same goes for his house, but they were staying there for the time being so later

They scheduled a date to meet and take a tour of the house to check it out and estimate its value and see if anything can be done

Ethan went to school as normal, wasn't getting dismissed anymore, got back into his academics and started coming back to himself again, started to talk more, eat, and started to do more things for himself, simple things like watch tv or text Harry to play some video game online, with Zayn too sometimes

It was Friday and tomorrow morning at 10:00 was Stacy's funeral, her family was coming in later on today and staying at a hotel nearby

When Grayson broke the news he was scared, how do you tell someone; their child, sister, cousin, whomever that she died

They were shocked, thought he was calling to just say hello or invite them to something or that Stacy lost her phone and was using Grayson's for now, everything but what he really called for

They cried together, Grayson's guilt only rising as they went on, the feeling of it being his fault came back, he didn't love her anymore, he should have let her go, should have gave her up sooner, but he didn't and it was his fault, at least that's how he sees it

Ethan was on his way home, Grayson didn't get off work for another hour or two, he walked home and was left alone

He didn't like being alone, that didn't change, he still kept close to Grayson whenever they were together, a puppy on a leash, Grayson his owner, sad when he left for work or school, lost

He sat in the living room, legs curled on the floor, unplugging his headphones as the music stopped before pressing play, his binder on the couch taking out the worksheet of homework he had, everything placed on the coffee table waiting for Grayson to come home, this was a distraction; to do homework, study, watch some Netflix, listen to music, anything to keep him occupied

The door opened as Grayson stepped in, his shoes taken off and placed beside the door, he walked a couple steps and sees Ethan sat on the floor, a few papers and a textbook scattered on the table, music softly playing for a background, engrossed in what he's doing

Grayson puts his things down on the dining room table, softly to preserve any sound, walking up behind Ethan, his hand comes down to hold Ethan's shoulder, knees bending to place a kiss on his head before coming back up

Ethan turns, fright turning to relief at Grayson's presence, "Hey" he calls out softly, voice strained, almost longing

He gets up following Grayson to the kitchen, a foot or two behind, taking a seat at the island

Grayson goes to prepare them both some lunch, Ethan always waits to eat with Grayson, wants the company, Grayson appreciates it too, likes that he's always close by, even when he works on his homework in the office Ethan sits on the couch on his phone or with his headphones plugged in, he's glad they both enjoy being with each other, that they need one another

Grayson makes them lunch as they eat and talk about school and any news on the case he's following in his internship, he's supposed to keep it to himself but Ethan won't tell anyone, Grayson knows this

They lay in bed right now, Harry texted Ethan if he wanted to hop on his computer and play with him and Zayn, they were playing Dying Light, a zombie apocalyptic game, it was pretty fun
