*in reference to smoking as a part of this aesthetic (because there's been a lot of comments and i think i should address it): i added smoking as a key point for grunge because it's so prevalent whenever you look up grunge. this does not mean you have to smoke to be grunge!!! and the same goes for any aesthetic—these are not checklists. you can pick and choose what you like and should never feel pressured to do something/wear something/say something you don't feel comfortable doing simply for "the aesthetic". smoking (and vaping/nicotine addiction in general) is a serious health problem and should not be taken lightly! i do not condone it in anyway shape or form and it was not my intent to encourage it with this. thank you to everyone who has commented in means of discouraging smoking, you are much appreciated! that's all, thanks for reading xx
