Aria's POV

"Check..me..out." Alex declared, sauntering out of the hallway and propping his foot up, showing off his shoes.

"Or..don't." I copied, mocking his move as I jokingly shake my hands

"Oh...Sweet kicks, papito." Lydia smiled

"Abuelita, take a picture for my Insta. I'm gonna stare off this way so it doesn't look like I know what you're doing." Alex said, striking an obnoxious pose

"What's the big deal about shoes, anyway?" I questioned, relaxing on the couch

"You don't get an opinion in this, you've had the same pair of shoes forever. Frankly, they're not great." Alex continued, pointing to the white converse that loosely cling to my small feet

I shrugged, knowing he was right, and watched as he took his shoe off and held it to his ear like a phone.

"What's going on south of your ankles, buddy? Aren't those the expensive sneakers I said you couldn't have?" Penelope asked, walking in and admiring the boy's shoes

"They were a gift from an admirer." Alex smiled, winking at his grandma, making Penelope and I turn to look at her

"I can spend my money how I want to." Lydia shrugged

"How about contributing to the rent?" Penelope asked, gesturing around the apartment

"I'm a senior! I'm on a fixed income!" Lydia declared, fast tracking real fast from her previous point

"Mami, I'm trying to teach Alex the value of a dollar. You need to pay for those or send them back. I thought you wanted to get a summer job?" Penelope snapped, turning to Alex

"Ah, what's the point? I get some money, I spend some money. I mean, what are we doing here?" Alex asked

"Preach." Schneider smiled, holding his hand up from where he sat at the kitchen table

"Alex, those shoes stay in your closet until you find a way to pay Abuelita back." Penelope argued

"Okay, Fine." Alex sighed, sadly looking down at his shoes

He smirked, before he went and hugged Lydia, "Your debt is forgiven."

"Stop pampering him. Scott and Lori are on vacation. Dr. Berkowitz needs somebody in the office to help with filing. You and Aria can help." Penelope said

"Hold up. Don't drag me into this." I gasped, sitting up from my laying position on the couch

She glared at me, making me freak and lay back down, "...because I would gladly volunteer."

"Oh...but if he goes to work with you, I barely get to see him. This one steals most of his time." Lydia fought, pointing at me

"Why do I keep getting dragged into this?" I sighed
