Lost Millennium: Disconnected

Game Time

"May I have your attention please. This day will go down in history. For today begins the most prestigious duel monsters tournament ever to be organized! Welcome to the Kaiba Corp Grand Championship!" Roland started, the lights in the banquet hall darkening as he walked onto the stage. I walked up beside Yugi onto the stage. "We've circled the globe to bring you this All-star congregation of duelists. First up.. the new Boy-Wonder of Dueling... The prodigy who's yet to be defeated, the one, the only Leapin' Lion Wilson!"

Looking over it was that kid that was talking to Yugi earlier. Guess he really was a duelist. Roland continued his introductions and I listened, yawning every so often our of boredom. There were... so many people here. Some of these people were really weird... unbelievably weird.

Even that lady was up here. "And of course the youngest Regional champ, Rebecca Hawkins." I saw the glare the lady who's name I'd already forgotten, I think it was something like... Viv and Rebecca. "Next It's Joey Wheeler, our overwhelming underdog." When I turned to Joey my eyes widened and  I took a step back with a shiver. That guy had some weird ass faces. "And hailing from parts unknown, the masked duelist Apdnarg Otum!"

Was... was that Yugi's grandpa? Even Yugi and my Pharaoh shared the same look I had. I just shook my hear throwing in the towel, this was crazy. This entire thing was just completely insane and I really wanted to leave already.

"And our final challenger, the always stylish Zigfried Lloyd. Finally our defending Champ (Y/n), she has agreed to have Yugi Moto duel for her, considering she is not in the best shape to do battles at the moment with our systems. Yugi was the previous champ but lost to her, for those who were unaware. She will not be participating but will attend the final duel with Yugi." My pharaoh held his hand out to me, one that I gladly took as he walked with me to center stage. "Whoever wins this sixteen duelist elimination competition will go on to face Yugi for second place in the international duel monsters championship crown. When miss (Y/n)'s arm heals up I imagine another tournament will follow if she doesn't retire again. To ensure fair play, match pairings will be randomly chosen by our computer just before every duel."

No time to prepare your deck for anything, you just have to pick your cards and get lucky I suppose. With that Roland ended the introductions, the newspapers took pictures of everyone on stage. I had to shield my eyes from the blinding flashes. Finally we were aloud to leave for the first match the following day. Everyone was in the Kaiba dome, and as much as I wanted to sit this out, wasn't really given much of a choice. 

Luckily I didn't have to be up on the stage this time, so I seated myself right beside Yugi and Tea. The crowd was huge and I rolled my eyes when Tristan started acting up. Tea just wacked him, I just turned my attention back to the stage. Looks like Mokuba was up this time. Everyone got hyped up when Mokuba asked if they were ready to see some Dueling. Looks like it was time to kick everything off. "And before the week is through, we may have a new international duel monsters champion! So give it up for the current titleholder (Y/n) (l/n)!" I shivered seeing that I popped up on that big screen, everyone chanting my name. Why didn't I stay in retirement? "Give a shout-out to your fans, (Y/n)." 

I glanced to Yugi for help, he just shrugged. Cure the sea. "Uh... I guess, best of luck to you all in your up coming battles. Yugi taught me everything I know, so you might have a tough time beating my-" I stopped for a moment, I couldn't say king or Pharaoh... technically Yugi wasn't my teacher either. Ahh! "Uh, I mean, good luck getting past him." I tried to smile, but it felt seriously forced. 

Mokuba seemed happy enough with that. "Alright, now, direct your attention to the Kaibatron! 'Cause it's time to kick off our all-star tournament with the first-round match-ups! Starting with block 'A,' the first competitor to strap on a duel disk will be..." I stopped paying attention. Really wouldn't need to until the round that someone fought Yugi. Even Kaiba showed up after a few moments letting everyone know this was anything but friendly.
