Chains
Heavy, black, chains
They are wrapped around my body,
Squeezing, squeezing, squeezing,
Tighter, tighter, tighter,
But when I open my eyes,
I realize,
It's not chains I'm wrapped in,
Its a hug
An intrusive embrace,
Their arms are like two suffocating pythons,
Wrapping around and around my body,
But when I blink,
I realize,
It's not a hug I'm wrapped in,
It's my blankets,
They lay over me like heavy snow,
The cotton drying my skin,
The push down on me,
And now I remember why they are here,
To remind me, that my jittering mind can never lay to rest,
Because I am, per say,
An insomniac
