Chapter 26:
Daddy Dearest

When we got home I was sure my dad would go back to work. But that didn't happen. He instead tossed his keys on the counter.

"What do you want to eat kiddo?" He asked as he kicked off his shoes and pulled out his phone.

"Whatever you want, I'm going to take a shower and change." I told him before I went upstairs.

I walked up to my room and closed the door behind me. I sighed feeling incredibly sticky. I went over to my closet and picked out new clothes to wear. I then went in my bathroom and took a quick shower.

I made sure to get all the coffee out from my hair before getting out. I got changed into some leggings and a tank top. Once I was done getting ready I walked out of my restroom. That's when I seen him sitting on my bed scaring me. I let out a scream before realizing who it was.

"America! Are you okay?" I heard my dad shout from downstairs.

"Yeah dad! Just seen a spider!" I shouted as I walked over to my door to lock it.

I then looked at the intruder.

"How the hell did you get in here Parker?" I asked as I crossed my arms.

Parker stood up from my bed and walked towards me, "The window."

I looked over to see it open. I mentally rolled my eyes at myself. I keep forgetting to lock that damn window.

"What the hell was that today? Why and how did you end up in a fight?" Parker asked me as he stood just a few inches away from me.

"Mariah dumped ice coffee on me and I finally had enough of her shit. Years and years of torment came up and I guess I just had enough." I told him feeling exhausted.

Parker nodded before he pulled me to him wrapping his arms around me. I wrapped my arms around his waist holding onto him. His cologne filling my nose, reminding me I was safe.

"Why did you have to get in a fight when I wasn't around?" He asked as he rested his chin on the top of my head.

I shrugged, "I don't know. Are you upset with me?" I asked remembering how he looked when he seen me.

Parker pulled away and lifted my chin so I looked up at him, "Of course not."

"Then why did it look like you were disappointed in me when I looked at you at school?" I asked him looking in his blue eyes.

"I wasn't looking at you with disappointment. I was feeling disappointed in myself for not being there to prevent it all." He confessed.

"You can't protect me from everything Parker." I said with a light laugh.

He nodded, "I know, but I at least want to try."

I smiled up at him loving that he came to check on me. He looked down at me with his dimple smile. Parker moved some wet hair away from my face. The warmth of his hand against my cold skin made me want to shiver.

I looked at the dark specks in the blue of his eyes. He wasn't looking at me but at the hair he tucked away. I could feel my heart racing as I felt him touch my ear as he made sure the hair was secure behind it. I also realized how close we were.

My head started screaming at me, 'oh no, oh no, oh no'. Parker then looked me in my eyes and raised an eyebrow in confusion.

    "What's wrong?" He laughed.
