donghyuck lay awake in his familiar bed, unable to sleep after the day's events
still trying to process what yunah and chaerin had told him
the news had taken a visibly obvious toll on the boy. urging kun to take him home right after
leaving without so much of a goodbye, leaving mark confused, and jaemin and renjun worried for their friend
restlessly tossing and turning the boys eyes were puffy from his dried tears and soft sniffling noises were the only ones he made
kun stood outside the door, his heart breaking for his little brother. wanting nothing more than to rush in and comfort him but he knew he just needed space, reluctantly making his way back downstairs to cuddle with a sympathetic taeil
quiet sounds from the tv played and he sunk into the warm arms of his boyfriend
"what do i do taeil? he doesn't deserve this" kun whimpered, his own tears threatening to feel and taeil hugged him tighter, gently rubbing soft circles along his back
"give him time baby, but right now we need to figure out how to protect him from vision"
kun winced at the mention of the gang, he was deathly worried for his brother's safety and didn't want to leave him out of his sight
but taeil had pointed out that if they did hide him, vision would get suspicious and possibly speed up whatever they had planned or become more aggressive, it was better to act unbeknownst to the situation and counterattack their moves subtly without raising any alarms
the couple stayed like that for a while as kun eventually dozed off
taeil looked down fondly and carried the man to his bedroom, gently placing him down onto the soft mattress and pecking his forehead
gazing down at his lover with nothing but admiration
exiting the house quietly making sure to lock the front door with the spare key kun had given him
he drove off into the night towards his house where a family of his own awaited
....
donghyuck trudged into school the next day, ignoring the stares and whispers floating around about his rough appearance
his hood was sloppily thrown on, not even pulled all the way down and he was sporting a pair of creased sweatpants
despite kun's wishes for him to stay home, he said he needed to get used to his normal routine after the previous day's events
he still felt a dull pain in the back of his head but it wasn't distractingly painful
"HYUCK"
jaemin's screech echoed through the hallway as he pounced on the boy
renjun struggled to pull him off the boy gasping for air only for him to escape his strong grip and hug donghyuck
"aw my baby how are you? why are you at school? come on i'll buy you food and take you home god knows you need a day off fr-"
"i'm ok jaemin" donghyuck said shooting jaemin and renjun a weak smile, not convincing his friends but they decided to let the boy. not wanting to push him
the bell rang through the bustling hallway "see you guys in second" donghyuck said, waving then making his way to the studio leaving his concerned friends watching him leave
jaemin pouted "i really do hope he's ok" renjun giggled at the face jaemin was making "he'll be fine, he's the strongest fucker i know"
he quickly pecked the pouting boy's cheeks and yelled a hasty goodbye while he ran off to his next class, leaving the un-flusterable na jaemin, flustered
...
donghyuck rushed towards the studio, cursing the group of students blocking his path for making him run late again
his angered thoughts were cut short and he crashed into another body, this time with enough force to send both of them flying onto the floor
this time, however, it wasn't mark
"i'm so sorry jeno" the younger frantically apologised, helping the other to his feet
"no it's fine" jeno insisted stopping the boy before he could leave
looking into his eyes with concern "are you ok? you know, after everything"
donghyuck sighed nodding "as good as i can be i guess, i just want for this to be over"
jeno murmured in understanding "we still on for after school?"
donghyuck had forgotten about the duty he had taken up, tutoring mark
"yeah," he said, deciding it would help with him try to get over it
jeno gave a cute smile "cool, see you then"
both boys went their separate ways
donghyuck made his way over to his spot next to chenle, who was talking to another person
donghyuck didnt recall him ever being in the class, maybe he was new
"hi"
the two conversing boys turned and looked to donghyuck
chenle letting out a cute squeal "hyung! this is yangyang and he's chinese as well"
donghyuck recognised the boy from the bus stop immediately smiling "hi again"
yangyang nodded, "i moved classes so i'll be your new seatmate"
