donghyuck ignored the various notifications coming from his phone, deciding to turn it off so he could mope in peace

kun gripped tightly onto the steering wheel of his corolla, keeping a straight gaze on the road ahead. not addressing the puffy eyes and tear tracks he was sporting

he thought back to how exactly he had ended in the car speeding out of the high profile area in which the gang house resided in

...

a few hours prior

donghyuck was greeted by echoing shouts ringing through the big house

a flustered johnny ran up the stairs in the direction of the commotion. donghyuck immediately recognised kun's strained shouts

it was then he realised something was wrong. kun never raised his voice to that extent. not once. donghyuck ran after johnny who was now holding a thrashing taeil in his tight hold

"-hy? please kun you keep me sane" he choked out, his wild movements suddenly ceasing

donghyuck couldn't see kun's face but he could tell that he was crying from his shaky movements

"i'm sorry illie, but i cant have our lives continue like this. you're literally on the opposite side. i'm the one patching up innocents that get caught up in your activities" kun said. his head facing his trembling hands

"kun. you know that's not us" taeil said softly, trying his best not to break out into more tears

"i know, but it'll never work. what you do is still illegal and i'm not going to be a part of that. i won't make you choose because that's cruel but for now we should" kun sighed

"we should distance ourselves, hyuck is already hanging together by a thread i think it would be best if we left"

and with that kun spun around, not showing a reaction to donghyucks gaping mouth, simply grabbing his arm and pulling him towards his room. donghyuck glanced back over his shoulder and met taeil's teary eyes then johnny's apologetic ones

donghyuck sat down on his unmade bed as he watched kun rummage around his closet, pulling out his clothes and piling them neatly into a large barrel bag

"are we leaving?" donghyuck asked, although a part of him already expected the answer

kun finally turned to meet donghyucks gaze, his own eyes bloodshot and his throat hoarse from yelling. "yes"

donghyuck nodded and wordlessly helped kun pack up his things

he would miss the place he had called his home for the past month, the people in it and the family-like atmosphere

maybe it was for the best. he couldn't bear through another day of doing what he had done for the past week. he could no longer ignore the pang in his heart whenever he saw mark, refusing to make any sort of contact with the boy

once they were done donghyuck stood, stuck in his place

"i'll be downstairs" kun said, knowing his brother would want some time before they left
