Chapter 11: Aftermath

"Wake up! WAKE UP!!" Sticks screamed as she rapidly shook Sonic as he was sleeping. The blue hedgehog groaned. "Amy...don't..." he whispered in his sleep. Sticks took a deep breath, and again shook him but gently. Everyone, even her, was still mourning for the loss of Amy Rose.

   As Sonic woke up, he grumpily asked Sticks, "What's worth a good night's sleep when people keep waking you up?" "Aurora's gone!" blurted Knuckles as he ran towards them, panting. Sonic immediately stood up, and replied, "What? You gotta be kidding!"

   "No, we're not-" argued Zooey just before she puked on the ground. Tails went to her aid, and handed her a trash bag. He walked her to a spot to sit down, and patted her back as he said to Sonic, "I've looked for her everywhere. She's nowhere on the island!"

   "She even left this drawing." Knuckles held out a stone that was apparently carved. Tails looked at the item, and exclaimed, "That's not a drawing, that's a note! Hand me that!" Knuckles and Tails held the note together, and Tails read the message out loud:

Dear everybody,

   I am very sorry, but in case you're wondering where I'm at right now, I've gone off looking for the rest of the Chaos Emeralds. Tell dad not to worry. I'll be fine.

    Love, Aurora/Lightning Bug/Tiny/Pinky (However you want to call me)

P.S- I left our family picture. Remember me. 

What is she? Nuts? She's going to get herself killed! Drowned, if she even dared to run across the ocean! he thought as he put his hands on his face, and took a deep breath. "I think you've might've overlooked a little bit, Tails." He then dashed out of the cave just before Tails could even reply.

   In seconds, the blue hedgehog came back, and he looked quite shaken. He stared off into space as his eye twitched. He glanced at his dead wife's body, and tried his best to hold back his tears. He just grabbed his face again and shook his head. I'm such a terrible father. First I let my daughter's mom slip away, then I let her get away in the middle of the night! he thought. "What have I done?" he whispered to himself.

   "Can't you just contact her through her Communicator?" suggested Knuckles. "That's the perfect plan, Knuckles! Except, oh wait, that's right! She wasn't wearing one last night!" snapped Sticks, as she glared at him as if he was a dummy (which he is, but not as bad as before).

   "How was I supposed to know? I didn't look at her wrist!" 

   "GUYS! Chill!" Tails interrupted as he held up his hands. Sonic jerked his head up, and protested, "HOW CAN I CHILL WHEN THE WIFE IS GONE, AND SO IS THE DAUGHTER SHE ASKED ME TO LOOK AFTER!!!!!" His face practically turned red, as he was inhaling and gasping for air.

   Everyone just stood in silence staring at him with sympathy, even Tails. Knuckles leaned into Sticks, and whispered, "Wow, I've never seen him this upset. The man never snaps at Tails. Even at bad times!" "Yeah." Sticks whispered back, agreeing. She then shed a few tears, and wiped her cheeks, remembering Amy's last words to her before she died: "Sticks, I will live on in you."

   "Luckily, I put a tracking device on her jacket during her sweet 16 birthday party!" added Tails as he pulled out a remote-shaped device. Sonic then jumped out of his thoughts and ran to his best friend. The rest of remaining Team Sonic walked to the two-tailed fox.

   He activated the device, and then explained, "This should show where Light is at right now by showing a red dot on the grid. I took care of all of the bugs, and tested it 12 times. It should work perfectly." "Why didn't you tell me about this before?" Sonic blurted out, giving him an irritated glare.
