Chapter 15: When I Heard Him Sing.

Katniss' POV

I wake up to someone gently playing with my hair.He runs his fingers through it and carefully removes the knots that were made as I slept. Peeta softly hums as he does, pretty obviously unaware that I'm awake. And when he starts to sing to me, my heart almost stops.

"They read you Cinderella

You hoped it would come true

That one day your Prince Charming

I'm astonished. He's never sang to me before. He probably wouldn't now if he knew I was listening.His voice is beautiful with a soft soothing vibration coming from deep in his chest. It makes my legs turn to jelly. His voice is nothing like my father's. It is all his own. But I love Peeta's voice.

"Well that's one way to wake up." I say looking up at him. His eyes fill with shock.

"Katniss! Oh my God! How long have you been awake?" Peeta asks.

"A little before you started singing." I tell him.

"I'm sorry you had to hear it." he says kind of sounding ashamed.

"But I loved it Peeta! Why haven't you sang to me before." I ask him.

"Well, I wrote that song when we were 11. I sang it everyday for weeks. Then my mom heard me sing it one day. She told me to stop skinning cats, that you would never love me. I got a good beating that night. And after that I never sang again." he replies.

"Well she lied to you. You have a amazing voice. And if she truly didn't like it, well that doesn't matter to me. I like it." I say leaning up to kiss him. I break eye contact and look down at the beautiful ring he gave me yesterday. I can't believe he wants to marry me.

"As much as I'd love to stay in bed all day with you, I need to go hunting." I say kissing him. After that I slip out of the house and out into the snow to catch our dinner.

Hey so I'm kinda moving so I can't update like at all for the next week so since I have time I'm gonna give you two today. I'm sorry hopefully I will be done moving by next Sunday. I'm also gonna sing "if tomorrow never comes" in our fall club show at school so I have to practice practice practice.

Oh yeah and the song Peeta sang was " I can love you like that" by John Michael Montgomery. It's a pretty cool song.
