DEAR FATHER

All the things I wish I could say
To you, I write down this day.
I'm sorry for the trouble I've brought your way,
And all the disappointments that seemed to stay.
It wasn't my choice but I had no say,
Maybe someday you'll forgive me, this I pray.
I miss how things used to be,
Or at least how they were about to be.
But now you feel like you don't know me
And the connection we once had is now lost in the wind.
Hidden truths kept us from each other,
Lies were told to keep the process in order.
Hardest time of my life; telling you things were better
Even though my redemption was edging further.
I know I can't make up for the things I've done,
But I promise everything will be better in the long run.
I want you to know that I love you, always have and always will no matter what.
I just hope someday you'll once again be proud to call me your son.

DEAR MOTHER

Mother, I want to fly,
I want to board a plane and get in the sky.
I want to look out the window and feel so high,
I want to see the clouds up close and say "Hi".

Mother, I want to land,
In God's own country preferably Maryland.
In a whole new world I want to take my stand,
Make some friends and in the process grow my brand.

Mother, I want to learn,
All I've missed these few years I want to earn.
For that Monday feeling my body yearns,
I can't wait to re-officially pick up my pen.

Mother, I want to see,
I want to see our thoughts finally come to be.
I want to see our dreams not only in our sleep,
But to see them unfold in reality.

DEAR CHILD

This life is not a bed of roses
Though I'd try to make it seem like it is,
This is to remind you of the thorns beneath the surface,
The dangers that exist outside the safety of your bubble
So as to prepare you for the time your bubble would be gone.

Nothing good comes easy,
That you have it now doesn't guarantee it'd be that way.
Sacrifice and determination is the only way to keep your goals in check.
There will be battles, forces raging to bring you down,
It is left to you to overcome,
To reject the flirtation of setbacks no matter how tempting they may be.

The time will come when all will seem against you,
When you think you've got nothing to lose,
Beware for that's when you've got all to gain
So let nothing stop you from holding on,
Let nothing stop you from persevering till the end
Cause unless you go through all these and still attain that bout of success,
you'd never appreciate life in its fullness.
