"Please leave a message after the beep." beep

"Mark. Don't ignore my calls and voice messages. I'm worried about you, dude. Call me when you're ready to talk. Mom is also missing you so much, we're waiting for you here, bro. We love you." beep

It was a stormy night, I just came back from the gym and I'm exhausted. I listened to them all but just as I expected, it was all from Johnny hyung. I couldn't help but hope that those voice messages were from you, Koeun-ah.

I removed my clothes and threw myself on my bed, I was drenched in the rain but I didn't bother to even wash up. I was too tired. Too tired of everything that has been going on.

I heard my phone buzz, a text message. I opened it and sighed. From Yeri. Why did I even think it was from you, Koeun?

"Mark, come join us for dinner tonight. Lucas will pick you up at 7PM. See you then. x"

I quickly turned my phone off and closed my eyes.

Koeun-ah, are you tired also? I hope not, I hope you're not having a hard time like I do.

A few hours passed and I heard a knock. It was Lucas for sure, I groaned and opened it up only to see one of my colleagues standing there holding a big pink box. She quickly turned around and I realized I was half naked, I snatched a white shirt and dressed myself as I tapped her shoulder.

"Sorry about the short notice, I just want to give you this cake." She started and extended her hand, I stared at her, not really wanting to do anything with it, she coughed, "uhm, it was our team leader's birthday and she received multiple cakes as a gift so she instructed us to gave it away and-"

"I hate sweets." I said and closed the door, I can hear her sigh. I ignored it and laid in my bed again.

After a few minutes, Lucas came in. I was just watching a movie when he sat on the edge of my bed. I turned to face him and saw him holding the cake box.

"Is it that girl again?" I nodded and he sighed. "Let's get going, Yeri is waiting." I turned my TV off and went with him.

"It's really nice to see you." He said as we were in his car, he was driving while I stared outside the window.

"I can't tell you if I feel the same way."

He tapped my shoulder and stopped by Yeri's apartment. I couldn't help but let out a heavy sigh as we both stepped out of the car and walked towards Yeri who was waiting to hug us.

"It's good to finally see you." She said, hugging me tightly, I flashed a weak smile and patted her back. She also hugged Lucas and proceeded into going inside.

It was only the 3 of us having dinner, why did I somehow expect that she'll be here out of the blue? Yeri cooked samgyetang and gopchang for us. I was somehow thankful that these 2 friends of mine are trying their best to make me feel better.

"Thanks for the food." Lucas announced and started devouring.

"I heard that you're continuing your studies, Mark." Yeri said, I looked up and glared at Lucas but he just smiled at me apologetically.

"I am. It was the plan all along. Finish a degree and fly to Chicago with my family." I answered dryly as I continued eating.

I am a senior in the university. Math major. I stopped going to classes when-

"Well, I'm happy you're pursuing your dreams." Yeri said and I looked at her

"My dream was shattered months ago, Yeri." I coldly said and her expression suddenly went cold.

"Mark.." Lucas called

"What?" I started, eyes on them as I hold up my tears

"Forget her dude." Lucas said, his tone serious.

"Easy for you to say."

"She left all of us, Mark."

"She left me! She's gone because of me." I screamed, I couldn't contain my emotions anymore. I stood up and bowed, "thanks for dinner. Sorry for ruining it."

"Mark.." they called but I started running away.

I don't know where I am right now. I just continued walking until I'm too tired to even stand. I found myself wandering around the convenience store near my old high school. I quickly sat at the vacant table outside and I opened a bottle of soju.

"I need to leave. Please let me go."

I lost count on the bottles I drank, her words kept repeating in my head and I didn't notice that the rain started pouring hard again.

I started walking to go home, not bothering if the rain would drenched me.

"Forget me."

The rain feels cold, but my heart is colder.

"I need you to unlove me."

I suddenly kneeled down, my head spinning and my eyes are hurting. I suddenly passed out.

"Mark!" I heard Yeri's voice, I squinted and when I fully opened my eyes, I saw Yeri and Lucas in front of me.

"What happened?"

"You got drunk." Lucas blurted, turned to me and flashed a little smile. "And you got a fever."

I sat up but a slight pain in my head caused me to stumble and lie down again.

"Rest first, Mark." Yeri said and tucked me in her bed. I nodded and closed my eyes, trying my best to fall back asleep.

A few minutes passed, I heard Lucas and Yeri's conversation. Maybe they thought I was in deep slumber.

"I'm so mad." Lucas said, sighing heavily.

"You need to understand, Lucas."

"If Koeun is still here-"

"She needed to make a choice." Yeri's voice was slightly going up and silence took over for a good minute, I heard her let out a deep breathe, "she's still our friend."

"She needed to make a choice, and she chose to leave us. She chose to leave Mark. And look what happened?" This time it was Lucas' voice who is loud, "She's selfish, Yeri."

"You don't even know the reason why she left!"

"And you do?"

Silence. Again. None of us really know her reason. It was just one day, she's gone. Without any goodbyes or explanation. She just left.

I sat up, and looked at the two of them. They were shocked that I was awake. They looked tense but I just stared at them. They were about to say something to me by the way they were hesitating but I spoke first.

"I miss her."
