Sonia's POV- April 2019

"Should we have warned Jake and Jen that we're on our way home?"

I glanced at Bobby who snickered.

"I think you should"

Matt groaned.

"I sure hope they fucked in your room, not mine"

Stella laughed.

"Jake's bed is bigger, pretty sure they fucked in your room"

I smiled and shook my head as Bobby mumbled.

"They probably did it in both rooms"

Stella, Bobby, Matt and I were away for the weekend, so the lovebirds had the whole place to themselves.

"What if they got into your guys' room?"

"We locked our door" Bobby and I simultaneously said.

We had all spend the weekend at my parent's house celebrating Tia's birthday.

"If you plan on giving them a heads up, you should do it now because we're about 15 minutes away" I noted.

"Rock, paper, scissors?"

Matt groaned a few seconds later.

"Best 2 of 3?"

He lost the following one because he asked,

"Best 3 of 5?"

"Matt, admit defeat and call," I said.

Thankfully he didn't whine and did as told. Once we were home, and I was about to shut off the car, Bobby gasped making all of us turn to her.

"Alex's mom and sister are in town"

Oh, right.

"I completely forgot" I admitted.

"Well you're not going to avoid them because I'm pretty sure that's them"

Across from us were two women placing packs of water, sports drinks and sodas on a dolly.

"Just act normal"

You did not need to tell me twice.

"Anyone mind if I hop into the shower first?"

I opened the car door as Bobbi spoke up.

"Dude, pretty sure you're the only one who needs to shower"

True, we all showered at my parent's house.

"Well I wasn't given that memo"

I stepped out of the car and reached for my small backpack.

"Hey, Nia mind opening the trunk?"

I pulled the lever before stepping back and closing the door of the car before making my way to the back.

"You all have the same colored bag, which is which?"

I grabbed my duffle bag and slung the strap on my shoulder.

"They literally have our names stitched on, Matty"

He picked up his backpack.

"All our school was able to afford was our roster number"

"Pretty sure your budget went on the fancy suit you wore on game day" I noted.

He played Soccer for the Stanford Cardinals.

"You're probably right"

I closed the trunk and locked the car. As we made our way over to the elevator, we all heard.

"Sonia?"

Thankfully, Stella stopped next to me and turned just as I did. The blonde woman, who I assume is Alex's mom and a pretty brunette who was likely his sister made their way over.

"Hi! I'm sorry to bother you, I'm Alex's sister Maria"

I offered the brunette a smile.

"It's nice to meet you, I'm Sonia" I replied.

She glanced at Stella and then back at me.

"This is my sister, Stella" I introduced.

We shook hands and as she shook Stella's hand, the blonde woman spoke up.

"Hello, I'm Shelly, Alex's mom"

"It's nice to meet you," I said.

She smiled.

"Alex has said lots about you"

"All good, I hope" I replied.

"He mentioned you were a graduate student"

I nodded.

"Yes, I'm a Civil Engineering student," I told her.

"That is an incredibly hard career, you have to be both smart and dedicated"

She was correct.

"Excuse me"

All eyes were now on Matt.

"Sorry, Hi, I'm Matt. Do you need help getting that dolly upstairs?"

"Yes we do, it's heavier than we thought and we don't really want to make the trip down twice"

He smiled.

"I can help"

That conversation was dropped there, and as Bobbi, Stella and I exited the elevator Shelly spoke up.

"It was nice to meet you, Sonia, I look forward to getting to know you more"

I offered her a smile as the elevator doors closed. Once we were inside the apartment, I took a seat on the floor because well...I did not know if it was safe or clean enough to sit on the couch seeing as Jen and Jake were total jackrabbits.

A/N:Happy All-Star break. Who watched that homerun derby? I was rooting for Joc and that those two three breakers had me on the edge the entire time.
