Twenty Three

Alex's POV- May 2019

Since Sonia had invited Nora to the graduation party, Chris and I decided to ride together to the location.

"This house is huge" I commented as Chris and I walked into the driveway.

"It makes sense though, her mom is a doctor and his dad a chef"

Right, he knew Sonia's cousin, Carolina...Cody's apparent baby momma.

"Fuck" I mumbled as I noticed someone standing next to the opened gate we had to cross to get inside.

"What?"

Before I could answer Chris' question, Isaac, Sonia's dad shouted,

"Alex!"

He was slightly drunk, but nonetheless in a good mood...thank god.

"Come over here!"

As we approached him, the smile on his face turned into a grin.

"Chris!"

Next to Isaac was an incredibly tall guy.

"Andre, this is Alex, Sonia's boyfriend"

The very tall man offered me a friendly smile.

"Alex, this is Andre, Sonia's uncle. His daughter, Carolina will be living with Sonia and Barbara"

"It's nice to meet you," I told him as I shook his hand.

Oh, this just got more interesting. He was totally going to beat Cody to a pulp. Not only was Carolina's dad taller, he had at least 15lbs on him.

"Likewise, I've heard lots about you"

He had a deep voice to match his tall and built body.

"It's nice to see you, Chris"

Isaac's eyes narrowed as he looked at Chris.

"It's nice to see both of you"

Obviously Isaac knew who Chris was since his daughters were neighbors with him way back when, but apparently, he had met Carolina's dad too.

"No Isaac, he is not the father"

He gestured at us.

"Go right on in, the taco truck just left but there's still lots of food left"

We excused ourselves and made our way to the backyard.

"So you've met him before?" I asked.

He nodded as he scanned the crowd of people. 

"Yeah, I met him at an ice cream shop after a game"

And just like that, he walked away from me. 

"Was Cody with you?" I wondered as I caught up to him.

He snorted.

"Believe it or not, we're not around each other 24/7"

They did live together, so it made sense that he'd need space. I was around Cody as I went up through the minors and even I had to admit he got annoying. 

"Do you think he knows who the father is?" I questioned.

"I wouldn't be surprised if he did, Carol is close to her dad"

I nodded and followed him to the table where our girlfriends and company were seated.

"Hey, bubs"

Chris greeted Nora with a kiss on the cheek before giving her a kiss. I smiled as I locked eyes with Sonia.

"You made it!"
