Mom (part 2)

Astrid's POV

It is Mother's Day today. I plan to visit my parents and give my mom a present. I made a metal engraving of my mother and I as a symbol of my love for my mom. After all, she was the one who raised me to be the person I am today. Strong, determined and brave. Just like my mom.

I take out a piece of paper and a pencil. I want to write a letter to my mom. I am actually planning to surprise my mom with an unexpected present by leaving it at her bed.

But what I fear now, is that whether my parents will approve of Hiccup. They weren't able to attend my wedding and they always disapproved of Hiccup. I wonder if they changed or are they still the same. I guess I have to find out by myself.

I come out from the bedroom, go downstairs and see Hiccup and Zephyr sitting in the living room, reading a book together. I smiled at their adorable passion for reading books. Zephyr is really an exact copy Hiccup. "Hiccup. Can you please accompany me to visit my parents? I wanna surprise my mom.", I say as I approach Hiccup and Zephyr.

Hiccup becomes hesitant and scratches his head. "Ummm.... I don't know. I know your parents didn't attend our wedding. And they don't like me either. Are you sure you want me to come? What if they chase me away? What if they take you away from me and ask you to leave me? What if....", he begins by flooding me with questions.

I place a finger on his lips. "Hiccup. Don't worry. We are married now. They can't do anything about it. We'll never know whether they have changed or not. We can only know by visiting them. Please, Hiccup. I haven't seen them in years. I really miss them.", I say as I put my hand on his shoulder.

Hiccup looks at me in the eyes with compassion. "Anything for you, m'lady. Anything to make you happy.", he says. I am very happy. I hug him and thank him for agreeing to come with me. "But, what about Zephyr?", I ask as I just realized about our daughter. "Leave that to my mom. We both know how much they love each other. She'd be pleased to know that she's gonna take care of Zeph.", Hiccup answers and I pull him into a passionate kiss. We hear daughter groan in disgust and we quickly pull back in embarrassment. We blushed and laughed at our little girl's reaction.

"Zeph. Mommy's gonna visit her parents. We'll send you to Grandma Valka's house so that she can take care of you. You can play with her too. We know how much you love to play with Grandma Valka.", Hiccup says to Zephyr. An overjoyed Zephyr jumps up and down. I chuckle and kissed her head. "See you later, Zeph. We'll be back soon. Okay?", I say. Zephyr nods in response.

"Let's go.", I say as we bring Zephyr to Valka's house. We go to her house and knock on the door. Valka opens the door and smiles at us. "Mom. We need you to take care of Zephyr as we go to Ingrid Hofferson's house for a visit.", Hiccup says to his mother as I bring Zephyr in front. Both of them were excited to see each other. We smile at them as Hiccup hugs and kisses our daughter. He kissed his mom's cheek and wished her a Happy Mother's Day. She hugs him back in return. I am really touched to see the mother and son bond.

"Bye mom. Love you.", he says as he holds my hand and we leave Valka's house.

"If only we had our dragons. That way, it would be easier to get to places.", I say and Hiccup agrees with me.

*later*

We arrive at my parents' house. I knock on the door while Hiccup is standing behind me. As we wait for them to answer the door, I signal for Hiccup to stand next to me. "Don't be nervous, babe. Trust me.", I reassured him. He smiles and stands next to me.
