Summary: Too lazy to write a summary. Lol. Just read and you will find out.

Author's POV

It had been a few days since Hiccup's father, Stoick the Vast, died and since Hiccup became the new chief of Berk. Although it was such an honor to be chief, he was still broken because he missed his dad who was with him for 20 years despite finding his long lost mother.

Hiccup came back home from work and went straight up to his room. His beloved girlfriend noticed and furrowed her brows in concern. She followed him upstairs and knocked on the closed door of his bedroom.

"Come in. It's not locked.", a raspy and cracking voice said.

Astrid opened the door and her heart broke when she saw her boyfriend, slumped over his desk crying, his head buried in his arms. She walked over to him and leaned down to look at him.

"Oh, babe..." Astrid began, putting a hand on his shoulder. Hiccup immediately looked up at her and more tears burst out like a waterfall.

"I-I m-m-miss him, Astrid...", Hiccup stuttered, choking on his sobs. His eyes were puffy and full of tears of grief.

"Come here, my little chief." Astrid sympathized as she immediately sat on his lap and stretched her arms out to him. He without hesitating rested his head on her chest and sobbed heavily on it, tiredly sniffling. He hugged her waist tightly as she put one hand on his back while the other was on the back of his head, gently stroking his hair.

"It's okay, babe. I miss him too.", she said, a few tears threatening to spill out as well, hearing Hiccup's body wracking sobs. Suddenly, Astrid did the unexpected: she sang... for him.

Didn't they always say we were the lucky ones?
I guess that we were once
Babe, we were once
But luck will leave you 'cause
It is a faithless friend
And in the end when life has got you down
You've got someone here that you can wrap your arms around

So hold on to me tight
Hold on to me tonight
We are stronger here together
Than we could ever be alone
So hold on to me
Don't you ever let me go

Hiccup slowly stopped crying and sniffled as he stayed in Astrid's arms and listened to her gentle and soothing voice, the one that was offering him comfort and happiness when he has lost a loved one. He looked up at her with his dried tear-stained eyes as she smiled and kissed his cheek. His heartbeat became steady, which Astrid could feel since Hiccup was holding her so tightly, and that made her even happier. And she continued,

There's a thousand ways for things to fall apart
But it's no one's fault
No, it's not my fault
Maybe all the plans we made might not work out
But I have no doubt even though it's hard to see
I've got faith in us and I believe in you and me

So hold on to me tight
Hold on, I promise it'll be alright
'Cause it's you and me together
And baby all we've got is time
So hold on to me, hold on to me tonight

Hiccup was looking at Astrid in awe and managed to put up a small smile for the first time in days. Astrid continued crooning to Hiccup until he felt better. And it seemed that he more Astrid sang with her gentle voice, the happier Hiccup was.

Happy that he has such a loving and caring girlfriend who is always there for him in every situation.

There's so many dreams that we have given up
Take a look at all we've got
And with this kind of love
What we've got here is enough

So hold on to me tight
Hold on, I promise it'll be alright
'Cause we are stronger here together
Then we could ever be alone
Just hold on to me
Don't you ever let me go
Hold on to me, it's gonna be alright
Hold on to me tonight

Hiccup pecked Astrid's lips before his eyelids felt heavy as Astrid sang the last line of the lullaby,

They always say we were the lucky ones.

By the time Astrid finished singing, Hiccup was peacefully asleep and snoring like a baby in Astrid's arms, his head on her chest. She chuckled softly and ruffled his hair. He stirred and adjusted himself.

"Good night, Astrid. I love you." Hiccup slurred before opening his eyes wearily to look at her. He smiled at her before closing his eyes again, slowly falling asleep.

"Good night, Hiccup. I love you too." Astrid replied as she buried her lips in Hiccup's auburn locks, pressing an affectionate and loving kiss to the top of his head. He tightened his grip around her as she also feels sleepy and closed her eyes and rested her chin on his head, remembering one thing...

Remembering to hold on to each other, because they only need each other. Because Hiccup knows that he only needs Astrid in his life to keep him safe and sane, and the same goes for Astrid, knowing that she only needs Hiccup in her life to keep her safe and sane.

End... 915 words... hahaha...
