Mary's POV
I saw Kara, Sam, and Dean wearing electricians outfits. "Okay Mae the rules?" Dean asked since last time I almost died to hillbillies. "Stay in the car and under no circumstances get out of the car." I said reciting what I know. They nodded. I got on my phone and saw Ricky texting me.
Ricky:Why did Kara text me you two almost died to hillbillies?
Mary:Kara and I got kidnapped by hillbillies and we almost got killed.
Ricky:Oh okay.
Kara came back but just got duct tape. I sighed and got up front and put in a Ac\Dc cassette and listened to the music and they got back in. "You decided to listen to Ac/Dc?" Dean asked. "I was bored." I said drawing out bored. He nodded we got to a bar. I was drinking water and sitting with Kara and Sam as they looked for clues. "I talked to the bartender." Dean said scaring me. "Did you get anything? Besides her number?" I asked knowing one answer would be number. "Mae, I'm a professional. I'm offended that you would think that." Dean said. "Dean." Kara said. "All right yeah." Dean said showing us the bartender's number. "You mind doin' a little bit of thinking with your upstairs brain, Dean?" Sam asked. "Huh? Look, there's nothing to find out. I mean, Meredith worked here, she waited tables, everyone here was her friend. Everybody said she was normal. She didn't do or say anything weird before she died, so—what about that symbol, you three find anything?" Dean asked looking at the papers. "Nope, nothing. It wasn't in Dad's journal or in any of the usual books. We just have to dig a little deeper, I guess." I said to Dean. "Well, there was a first victim, right? Before Meredith?" Dean asked. "Right. Yeah." Kara said pulling out the newspaper article. "His name was, uh—his name was Ben Swardstrom. Last month he was found mutilated in his town house. Same deal—the door was locked, the alarm was on." Sam said showing Dean the newspaper clipping. "Is there any connection between the two of them?" Dean asked. "Not that I can tell—I mean, not yet, at least. Ben was a banker, Meredith was a waitress. They never met, never knew anyone in common—they were practically from different worlds." I said. "So, to recap, the only successful intel we've scored so far is the bartender's phone number." Dean said smirking. I saw Sam looking in the other direction. "What are you looking at?" I asked Sam he ignored me and got up walking in that direction. "Sam?" Kara asked. Sam was soon talking to a girl with a cute blond pixie cut. "Come on you two." Dean said. We walked over to them. Dean cleared his throat rather loudly getting their attention. "Dude, cover your mouth." She said. "Yeah, um, I'm sorry, Meg. This is, uh—this is my brother, Dean, my sister, Mary, and our friend Kara Jones." Sam said. Meg looked shocked mostly at me since I look nothing like my brothers. "This is Dean and Mary?" Meg asked still shocked. "Yeah." Sam said. "So, you've heard of us?" Dean asked standing closely to me. "Oh, yeah. I've heard of you. Nice—the way you treat your brother like luggage. You Mary are as adorable as Sam described." Meg said. "Sorry?" Dean asked. I sighed and went to the bathroom Kara following me. "There's something off about that Meg girl." I said to Kara. "I'm with you." Kara said. "She just gives off a weird vibe you know?" I asked Kara she nodded. We walked out and ran to where Sam and Dean were outside. "Who the hell was she?" Dean asked. "I don't really know. I only met her once. Meeting up with her again? I don't know, man, it's weird." Sam said. "And what was she saying? I treat you like luggage? What, were you bitchin' about me to some chick?" Dean said. "Look, I'm sorry, Dean. It was when we had that huge fight when I was in that bus stop in Indiana. But that's not important, just listen—." Sam said trailing off. "Well, is there any truth to what she's saying? I mean, am I keeping you against your will, Sam?" Dean said. "I don't think Sam is being held against his will Dean." I said rolling my eyes. "No, of course not. Now, would you listen." Sam said ignoring me. "What?" Dean asked pissed I pulled Kara in the car. "I hope this doesn't end like Standford." I said to Kara. "Standford?" Kara asked. "When Sammy went to college Dean, Dad, and Sammy were all yelling finally Dean stopped and took me to the bathroom so it would be kinda muffled." I said. Kara nodded. We were now in a motel room except Sam I was reading bored with nothing else to do. Kara and Dean were looking up Meg Masters. "So is she really who she claims?" I asked. "Yeah let's call Sam." Kara said taking out her phone. I saw Ricky texting me.
Ricky:I'm out of the closet.
Mary:Sounds like a funny Bi joke.
Ricky:No seriously mom ended up grounding Jo who tried sneaking out for a hunt.
Mary:I feel like if I meet Jo we'll get along.
Ricky:How old are you again?
Mary:Ten.
Ricky:You are too young to be hunting.
I got off texting and decided to do some science workbook. I started doing it bored out of my skull and tuning out Dean and Kara. Soon Sam walked in. "Guys, I gotta talk to you." Sam said. "Use protection, and no hanky panky in the motel room." I said to him. Kara and Dean laughed. "No Mae, and ew." He said. I shrugged continuing to work and heard. "So, hot little Meg is summoning the Daeva?" Dean said and Kara snacked him for calling Meg hot. "Looks like she was using that black altar to control the thing." Sam said. "So, Sammy's got a thing for the bad girl." Kara said and Sam rolled his eyes probably thinking how immature we are. "And what's the deal with that bowl again?" I asked Sam remembering a bowl was talked about in this explanation. "She was talking into it. The way witches used to scry into crystal balls or animal entrails. She was communicating with someone." Sam said. "With who? With the Daeva?" I asked. "No, you two said those things were savages. No, this was someone different. Someone who's giving her orders. Someone who's comin' to that warehouse." Sam said. "Holy crap." Dean said like he remembered something. "What?" Sam asked. "What I was gonna tell you earlier—I pulled a favor with my – friend, Amy, over at the police department. The complete records of the two victims—we missed something the first time." Dean said. "What?" I asked going over to the papers with Sam and Kara. "The first victim, the old man—he spent his whole life in Chicago, but he wasn't born here. Look where he was born." Dean said. "Lawrence, Kansas." Sam and Kara said. It's always Lawrence, Kansas. "Mmhmm. Meredith, second victim—turns out she was adopted. And guess where she's from." Dean said. "Lawrence Kansas like the last one." I said. Dean nodded ruffling my hair. "Holy crap." Sam said. "Yeah." Kara said. "I mean, it is where the demon killed Mom. That's where everything started. So, you think Meg's tied up with the demon?" Sam asked. "I'm still wondering how Mom was alive in 1995." I mumbled. "I think it's a definite possibility." Dean said either not hearing me or ignoring me. "But I don't understand. What's the significance of Lawrence? And how do these Daeva things fit in?" Kara asked now wondering that. "Beats me. But I say we trash that black altar, grab Meg, and have ourselves a friendly little interrogation." Dean said. "No, we can't. We shouldn't tip her off. We've gotta stake out that warehouse. We've gotta see who, or what, is showin' up to meet her." Sam said. "I'll tell you one thing. I don't think we should do this alone." Dean said. "Um there are two useful girls." Kara said pointing to us. It was later Dean was leaving a voicemail on dad's phone and Sam and Kara were getting weapons. "We think we've got a serious lead on the thing that killed Mom. So, uh, this warehouse—it's 1435 West Erie. Dad, if you get this, get to Chicago as soon as you can." Dean said hanging up. "Voicemail?" Sam asked. "What do you think?" I asked. Sam nodded. "Jesus, what'd you two get?" Dean asked. "We ransacked that trunk. Holy water, every weapon that we could think of, exorcism rituals from about a half dozen religions. We're not sure what to expect, so we guess we should just expect everything." Kara said. Dean nodded and loaded the guns silently. "Big night." Dean said. "Yeah. You guys nervous?" I asked. "You're not coming and to make sure." Kara said and took chains out. "Oh come guys I'm not five years old." I said. "Too bad." Sam said and him and Kara chained me to a heater like when I was five and Sam babysat me the first time.
Flashback
I was sitting on the bed as Dad and Dean were going on a hunt. "Okay Sam keep an eye on Mae since Dean taught her tricks." Dad said. Dad and Dean left. "Sammy why do Daddy and Dee put themselves in danger?" I asked him wondering. "To avenge Mommy's death Mae." Sam said. "But Mommy's dead killing the thing won't bring her back to life only Angels can like Pastor Jim told me." I said. Sam laughed and nodded ruffling my hair. "Sammy." I said. "Yeah?" He asked. "Can we play a game?" I asked. "What kind of game?" Sam said. "I run and you try to catch me." I said and ran around wearing out Sam he picked me up and sat me by the heater and cuffed me to it smiling.
                           End of flashback
That ended with Sam being grounded and me figuring out how to escape handcuffs causing Sam and Kara to now use chains. They left to get Meg. I looked at the chains trying to figure out how to escape. I heard the door open and saw the last person I expected, Dad. "Daddy?" I asked. "Mae baby." He said seeing me chained. "Sam?" He asked. "And Kara she's now helping us." I said. He chuckled and got the chains off and hugged me. I cried in his shoulder missing him he rubbed my back soothingly. "It's fine baby daddy's here." He said. He picked me up and moved me to the couch. "How long have they chained you?" He asked I shrugged. "Why are you here you've been missing even when we needed your help." I said. "Hunting the thing that killed your mom." He said moving a piece of hair from my face. "Oh I saw mom when we fought a poltergeist at the place she first died." I said. "Really as a ghost?" He asked. "Yeah and Dad I do look a lot like her but for some odd reason she called me Isla." I said. "We were originally gonna name you Isla Millie but I looked at you after your mom died and saw Mary." He said. I nodded at that his phone rang he looked and didn't answer. "Probably Meg but your brothers and Kara will get out." Dad said. "Yeah but demons aren't the normal for us." I said. He nodded. I told him about he past hunts I've done from exorcising a demon, to killing Bloody Mary, and fighting a poltergeist and almost getting my head chopped off again. He smiled I heard the impala and looked out the window with dad. I heard the door open. "You got out of chains Mae and who's that?" Sam asked. "Hey boys and Kara." Dad said. Dean went up to dad and hugged him so did Sam nice since I didn't have to hear a screaming match. "Did you guys kill Meg?" I asked. "Yes and she called you our mascot." Kara said. "Why would she call me that?" I asked mad. "You're the youngest and follow us around you're mascot." Sam said I gave him a bitch face. I saw a shadow that wasn't ours. "Did you guys kill the shadow?" I asked. "How do we do that?" Kara asked and suddenly dad was thrown back along with them I was pulled back by my hair. I got a lighter slash flare gun. "Can't be a shadow with out shadows everyone cover your eyes!" I shouted and let it go causing a light burning the shadow. I crawled to dad and got him out coughing. We got out. "All right, come on. We don't have much time. As soon as the flare's out, they'll be back." Sam said we headed to the car. "Wait, wait, wait! Sam, Mae, Kara wait. Dad, you can't come with us." Dean said. How hard did Meg hit him. "What? What are you talkin' about?" I asked. "You four—you're beat to hell." Dad commented. "We'll be all right." Dean said. "Dean, we should stick together. We'll go after those demons—." Kara said. "Mae, Kara, Sam! Listen to me! We almost got Dad killed in there. Don't you three understand? They're not gonna stop. They're gonna try again. They're gonna use us to get to him. I mean, Meg was right. Dad's vulnerable when he's with us. He—he's stronger without us around." Dean said. He does have a point Dad was scared to take me on my first hunt and Dean had to convince him. "Dad--no. After everything-- after all the time we spent lookin' for you—please. I gotta be a part of this fight." Sam said. "Sammy, this fight is just starting. And we are all gonna have a part to play. For now, you've got to trust me, son. Okay, you've gotta let me go." Dad said. Sam and I shake our heads no. Dad gets down on his knees and looks at me. "Keep them safe sweetie, try not to get hurt, and don't make them chain you to a heater." Dad said I hugged him he hugged back kissing my forehead and left. "Come on you two." Dean and Kara said and we got in the car leaving dad and that asshole shadow. "So how did you guys kill Meg?" I asked. "Throwing her out a four story window." Kara said. I nodded but I felt like Meg probably wasn't dead.
